Probably will just turn into my general build thread, but whatever. Have been into GM vehicles for the past 18 years, this is my first ever import car, was converted by a friend of mine at work. He's got an 87 Yota truck, figured I'd dive into a 1st gen Tacoma to start my import career.

Removed radiator + fan. Fan is now garbage, will be running dual 12" electrics controlled from the driver seat.

Start pulling everything off you can

Smell ya later stock breather. You'll be replaced with lots of silicone hose and large conical filter that feeds a spinny thing

    Out she comes

Here is a shot of my undercarriage. I replaced my clutch the day that I bought her, slapped a stage III 6-puck in with new throw out bearing & flywheel. Super happy with the whole thing for the amount of coin I dropped.

Former fall protection hooks going to good use. Any industrial monkeys out there should be happy to see that low end piece of crap being used and abused.

High in the sky. Had to pull my garage door down because I'm an idiot and parked the truck in the wrong spot.

New flywheel and clutch assembly. Less than 1k miles on the whole setup. This will be a good chance to see my wear pattern after break-in.

Another gratuitous clutch shot. Off center due to yanking/beating the motor forward to remove.

Surfaces and pucks look great, very happy with break-in pattern.

    Accessories gotta go.

General shots to follow, think they're kinda out of order. Timing belt looks great, no issues.

Valve covers off, looks good in there. Friggin Toyota has some impressive engineers.

Tube and knock sensors have to GTFO.

Pulling heads is pretty straightforward. Doing our inspections as we go, making sure to label and set very carefully, most of this stuff will be cleaned & reinstalled.

Here are all of the new parts going in. This kit was an absolute steal at $275, I can't believe how much many parts were included and the quality is off the charts. We already slip fit a few of the piston heads & rollers, super precise.

edit: obviously new rack & pinion wasn't included with $275, that was only engine components & seals

New grill. Gonna be plain Jane ugly for a little while until I get time to put mesh in.

PROGRESS EVERY DAY is the name of the game boys. No matter how small you think the progress may be, don't ever let yourself pass "just this one time". Today we cleaned some parts.

This valve cover doesn't know what is coming
