I'm pleased with the 3.5 though the 3rd gen is my first taco. However just had a check engine light come on at 34k and burns a qt of oil at 4k. Toyota service found a vvti code which could both be linked. Anyone else have these problems? I'll post more when I hear from the shop.

A lot. It’s a 10 million horsepower single stage solid propellant rocket booster. I get 20 000 miles range out of one fill up too, although it’s a bitch to find service stations that can replenish the fuel.

That's just FCA syndrome. The brand for the always angry. It's why even that cars a upsized to, ahem, compensate.

The oil filter type and placement on the 3.5 is ridiculous. If you do your own oil changes, the 4.0 is like a wet dream in comparison.

It's really like the guys who have 2014s or 2015 tacomas who were really bashing the 3rd gen hard because they no longer have the latest and greatest. People are tribal.

And the expanse widens between the 2nd and 3rd gen forums.

Well, OK if you want to get all technical.

I really could care less, except for the entertainment value.

The best generation/ engine / truck Toyota ever produced is the one sitting in my driveway, in my opinion of course.

Sorry, but I've been dropping that one when the last gen'ers used to come in here and drop the Turd Gen bomb.

    One of these d
Im off to banff in an hour, the generator folks can get fucked. I could care less about your AC or your microwave.
And why is it they insist on pointing the noisey gen. exhaust towards everyone else?
Your gen, your noise, point it towards your POS box on wheels cause no one else wants to hear it.

I can't even get a resonse in the the 2nd gen forum, the distain is real. And I don't even go in the 1st gen forums, everyone is chopping, welding, fabbing, bobbing and putting on chevy leaf springs, I don't feel worthy.

We'll all end up like the 1st Gens. It just takes time to get there.

Same here though. I stick around this territory.

I respect the 2nd Gen Tacos. Some of the owner comments though . . .

It ain't easy being the best, but we manage.

The cross generation rivalry is fun, but some people take it way too seriously. As is a surprise to no one, I'm sure.
