Anyone in the Baltimore area? Specifically Crofton, south of Baltimore. Frank Smith with TTFS tuning wants a 16 Tacoma in his shop

You are correct seems Indian company known as TATA owns them as of 2008. The engines used may be a Ford power plant.

3rd gen owners act like they drive a super car lol. It is an average priced midsize pickup truck, Even people with questionable credit could purchase one if they wanted it bad enough.

I agree that the 3.5 EB is not backwards...if they go to a motor that gets its hp and torque at a higher rpm than the 5.7 does now...I'm out.....and am sure a few others would be too.

Credit is getting easier to come by these days, following the recession. They'll give anyone a loan for $30k - $40k if you're willing to pay the interest rates. For that reason the Tacoma is an "affordably" priced vehicle, thus many people buy them and drive them. Note that I said "affordably" priced, not "reasonably" :D:anonymous:

Okay. I like my 2nd Gen shitty overpriced truck. It's the last one I will own because I need bigger vehicles.
That being said if you don't like them don't buy one.

Lmao. Very true. My big truck is 60k but it's more than twice the truck. You don't want to know what the payments are.

In my opinion an SR5 is more than adequate. Power windows and locks, upgrade the stereo and your good for a while for much less than the TRD. To me the TRD is way overpriced all due to one key feature known as crawl control. I can care less and have gotten myself through some very bad spots in 2 wheel drive so I don't see the need for some computerized 4x4 settings. I'm a function over form type of guy so the lower cost version would be good enough.

Now if only they would stretch the cab another 4 inches so the rear has more room. They just about nailed everything else.

Credits will only get harder to attain when people with multiple high balanced credit cards max them out and then declare bankruptcy..It's only going to get harder to get credit cards and loans for people without a good credit history or established credit.

I really had a hard time buying a $30k midsize truck. It really took me awhile to get used to the idea.

No way Toyota will add a turbo to the 3.5 in the Tacoma! Now I could see them use the 2.0 turbo that is already in use in a few of the Lexus cars.

Can see them putting a turbo 3.5 in a tundra. Maybe not in the Tacoma.

Exactly! Would increase mpg in the Tundra while still having competitive power. If they put a turbo in the Tacoma it will be a 4 cylinder that would have around the same power(possibly more low end torque) but better fuel economy than the 3.5

The 4 cylinder in the Tacoma now is getting old and is due for a replacement. At least they finally got rid of the 4 speed transmission on the 4 cylinder.

Been thinking about this for a while, posted a couple times on FB forums, but didn't want to post here, thanks for bringing it up. being the 2018 GS gets a TT 3.5, Toyota might benefit from copying the powerplant to the Taco, and even farther dreams, maybe Toyota offering special taco, say +2 kit from factory, maybe partner with KING being Ford partners with Fox, and revamping the rear from factory, maybe to offer a lighter raptor variant from a reputable company, but they've got to fix the tranny issues first before I would ever even consider buying, unless they offered it in manual which would be insane.

Yey sorry, also different year, 2019 LS lol thanks, if they put it in the tundra, then so help me god, I'll be the first to swap it in my 2nd gen because she deserves more power... building up a 4.0 is out of the question, you want high revs better airflow in FI, that's where the 3.5 shines. Light vehicle + suspension + lots of power = ultimate off road experience, even with the new aluminum body on the raptor, it's still a hefty beast.
