Has anyone else experienced surging when parking or pulling into a garage/carport, etc with the 3.5 V6? Mine is a 2023 and when backing out or pulling in with your foot on the brake the engine races a bit sometimes causing you to brake harder. The AC is not on when this happens so the engine should be just idling. It happens more than half the time and is not just with a cold start. This engine does seem to idle fast when cold started but i give it a minute or more before backing out.

Does this happen to correlate with steering input?

Most engines have a higher rev when first started. My 2023 does not surge even in cold/super cold weather. Suggest taking it to a reputable dealer if still under warranty.

Mine will bump the rpm up a tad when there is any input from the steering wheel when backing into the garage. It’s always done it. Just something I figured I needed to get used to.

my '18 does it, mostly related to cold engine temps, low idle, and steering input, i guess sensors decide imminent stalling is going to happen, so it revs up. super irritating as it normally revs just as i back it into the garage after washing, right as i come to a stop at the parking block-- the truck seems to want to open up the rear wall of the garage!

Now that I think about it when parking in the carport I can't just drive straight in, I have to jog a few feet to the left. It has about 2500 miles and I notice it more that last 1000 miles or so. Maybe it does not do it as bad in summer temperatures? My 09 was a 4cyl and never had the problem but it developed a waistline when the a dump truck ran into the side so we got an new one.

I have to take it to the dealer to set the auto fresh air mode back to Off again as the recirculate door opens up 1 minute after shutting off. They set it in Techstream in May but the last month or two it reverted back to the default setting. I'll ask about the surging as well.

    Thanks for the input.

once in awhile i'll get something like a surge but it's when the engine is cold, i never have the issue once it's warmed up, at least not that i have noticed

My 17 does but only when I first start it up. Once it’s warm no surge.
