Sounds pretty reasonable to me. Warranty doesn't = new truck, it = proper repair.

Well executed warranty work (whole head actually saves them money, should make you happier too).

The payment and the extended warranty are nice perks for your inconvenience. Make sure you understand what the bonus warranty is.

Is it truly an 'extra' 7 years? As in 7 years after the original warranty ends? Or does it overlap time wise, making it an extra, what, 4 years?

Even the 4 years is not bad if that's what it is, AND it includes additional mileage over the original. 100k?

As long as the local techs do a good job with the R&R, sounds like you will be golden!

Make sure you open a case with Corporate too. I'd absolutely push for the Platinum 125k Mile/8 Year warranty at this point. If you have a brand new truck and the engine is being cracked open and major components replaced by some tech doing warranty work, I would absolutely want some long term coverage added to that vehicle. Sucks to have a brand new vehicle that costs this much with this type of warranty work being done so early on.

Lol. I mean, it's not ideal. I get that. I would still be upset and a bit uneasy about it all. But all things considered, it is not horrible. Obviously, I would want 100% clarity on that extended coverage, like you mentioned.

This is seriously screwed up.. At minimum I would want a free 100k warranty

So far, truck is running well with no indicator lights coming on and it seems to be running very smoothly. And I did open a case with Toyota national customer service, Smitty. They were professional, but quite firm with the no replacement vehicle. I think what I came away with is as reasonable as could be expected.

RI lemon law provides for a replacement if the vehicle is being repaired and unavailable for 30 non-consecutive calendar days during the initial 12 month ownership period. I'm halfway there, sadly enough.

Did they give you an exact description of the problem, or even better, show you the broken parts?

Did they concede to a significant extended warranty?

Didn't see the parts; only told me that two valves were damaged/improperly manufactured. I did get the extended warranty and Toyota is paying my first month's payment as well.

I'm glad they took care of you. They honored their agreement with you. Sure it sucks on a new truck but stuff happen to all of us and how we are treated is the most important part.

Toyota does the same thing from my experience. I had a bad MAF sensor that Toyota told me needed to be replaced, I asked them if they could try cleaning it first to see if that solved the issue and the service manager told me very bluntly, "we don't do that, we just go ahead and replace parts"
