    Hi Everybody ,
We are wondering if anyone else has experienced a high oil level reading on their 3.5 liter v6 ?
After changing the oil (0-20 synthetic 6.2 quarts) , our dipstick always reads high . (3/8" + above the top dot on the dip stick)
Has anyone else had this issue ? We searched here on 'Tacomaworld' and didn't find any answers . Our Tacoma is a 2023 trd .
Hopefully someone else has experienced this puzzling issue and could share their findings .
    Thank you !

I put 6 quarts in mine and it’s dead balls on full when the oil is at operating temp.

Usually do 6 quarts … u have to remember that even after draining u still will have residual oil left in the engine . You would have tip the truck side to side front to back to get every amount out .u can get a small tube and a syringe of some kind and siphon some out of dipstick . DO NOT DO THIS WITH ENGINE HOT or WARM. ONLY COLD. It can melt in the dipstick tube .

    Wait. Doesn't everyone do this?

Seriously though. I also fill exactly 6 qts and it's right on the dot oil and filter change.

Try this, wipe the dipstick and insert into the hole. Wait a couple of hours. Pull the dipstick out and without wiping and see what the level reads. Do this and see if you still get a high reading.

Are you measuring right after you put the oil in but before you started the truck? Might be that the oil filter is not filled up.

Check after 5 mins, any longer will always read high.

I usually get 6.2 liters in 3.5 tacoma, which is 6.5qts apparently.

I put 6 and a half quarts. Easy enough. A mechanic once ask me-how muck\h oil is i the pan at 65mph. Never had an issue.

We may have discovered something today regarding our mysteriously high oil readings on our 3.5L V6 Tacoma .
We found that if we remove the dip-stick and leave it out 5 minutes or so , then check the oil level (only once!) you will have an accurate read .
It seems the oil is being dragged up into the tube when checking the oil level - thus - following checks read high because the oil within the tube is added to the stick and giving a false and high read . (Hope this makes sense)
Hopefully everyone had a Great 4th of July and had a chance to take a minute to thank a Vet .

    Thanks for the info!

I use Havoline Full Synthetic and measure...it's somewhat high but your suggestion sounds correct.

you put in too much oil, but it won't hurt anything. it only takes 6 quarts to hit the full mark. as mentioned above, there is residual oil in the engine and pan which is why anything over 6 quarts reads above the full mark.

Just added toolbox and roof-rack to haul my fishing boat 100's of miles into the backwoods every week. Goodrich K02s, Bilstein 5100 front and back, no lift.
    Yup, that works every time.

I use the same stuff. Love the 6 QT box. I don't even bother with the .2 QT.
