You’ve contributed a lot of good info man. I remember posting back in summer about the a/c drip on my passenger floor mat in hot weather from running fresh air mode. Curious to see if my new truck drips. I’ll be sure to set it to auto climate control

They had issues too in the grand scheme of things. The 2grfks is still a bad ass quality built engine overall

Its not even trolling at this point. Its well known these auto transmissions suck and the 3.5 wasnt the best either. Theres just Toyota loyalist that will back it up no matter what just because its a Toyota Tacoma. 3rd gen were a bad generation for tacoma.

He's just a troll, don't give him the attention. If they really were that bad Toyota wouldn't have sold roughly 1.5 MILLION of them.

Look at his history, really negative, nagging against the 3rd gen. Odd to have an account on here just to be negative on a constant basis. Absolute troll.

Dont you work for a dealer? I remember buying the truck taking it back to the dealer thinking I got a lemon transmission because of the constant gear hunting and hard random shifts. Turns out after research it’s normal. Toyota just dropped the ball.

I had a 16 and it was bad 4 updates came out for it, I still dont care much for 3rd gens, but I dont go around looking for threads to trash it.

It's literally trolling at this point.

I felt the need to contribute to this revived thread.

The 2GR in the Tacoma is probably still too "new" of a version of the 3.5 to compare to the 4.0 for longevity.

Still not a lot to get a good number of 200k + mile engines, I know they are out there but you'll have more datapoints on high mileage 4.0s than 3.5s. You'd have to put 30k miles a year on a 2016 to get there

The 4.0s and 3.4s are awesome. Those tacomas and 4runners with those motors are the best ones to get.

Odd you would even try and look into my account just because I have a differing opinion on a pickup truck. Sorry for not saying the 3rd gen is the greatest truck ever made.
