That always make me wonder too but we traded a two year old outback with 32,000 miles on it in on our Tacoma.

Was s great Car and never had any issues but we decided to move up from a small lightweight popup trailer that the outback towed easily to a 4000 pound travel trailer and needed a different tow vehicle.

Bottom line is there are a ton of reasons to get rid of a 2 year Car.

I bought my 2004 AC Taco with 8,000 miles in 2005 because the guys wife got pregnant and they needed a bigger vehicle. Absolutely bulletproof for the next 12 years. Having said that, I agree with the others to slow your roll.

Shit I paid 36K for my TRD sport 4x4 Manual DCSB and I bought it basically the day it came out. One of the first manual Tacomas on the east coast so I knew they werent gonna do me any favors on it lol. Should be able to find a MUCH lower price for a used one at this point. Its encouraging that the used market is every bit as ridiculous as the new ones are now, I feel better about the financial decision to buy this truck

    ABORT!

A brand new Tacoma, a truck people buy for the long haul, ended up traded in with 10k miles?

The things a POS guaranteed. I traded mine in because I could sell it privately to some poor sap in good conscience.

Honestly, with the way they hold there value, you could get a new one for a couple grand more. I seriously wouldn't recommend a 3rd gen though. For what you are paying you get a buzzy rattle trap with the world's flakiest transmission.

:rofl:The 3rd gen gives you the opportunity to feel this way. It's what Toyota calls a normal characteristic of the vehicle.

Yeah sure. If you pass on the manual and get the auto. No problems with my V6 manual transmission ;)

That only solves one of the 3rd gen problems though.

I mean... It's pretty common knowledge that if something rattles you take it back to the dealer and get them to fix it somehow. I did that once for my dash, and once for the a pillar covers and I've been good on rattles since 2k miles.

I don't feel the V6 is anemic personally, I expected it to perform about the way it does. Honestly my truck is as quick as my buddy's Xrunner with URD goodies (not supercharged though) so that makes me pretty happy. I feel that in most capacities this motor has surprised me in positive ways. It reacted very well to a full exhaust, intake, and tune for sure.

For the record, in case someone is going to insinuate that I don't know what I'm talking about, other vehicles I normally drive include:
My father's S560 with 475 HP and more torque. Idk how much but probably just shy of 600 considering it's got a small V8 with two turbo and based on my butt Dyno estimate (I stand corrected, it's 'only' got 515 torque )
My sister's Range Rover Evoque with a 4 banger with two turbos.
My dad's Aston Martin DB7 when he has me do the maintenance and then stretch it's legs every once in a while ( I jokingly tell him I could beat it in my taco, but it's slow compared to the Merc for sure)

My mom previously had two Porsche Cayennes with the V8, now she has an Ecoboost explorer with twin turbo V6.

You weren't happy and you made a change- props for that.

    "POS guaranteed", not so much....

    Enjoy the Subaru.

I never had a problem with the engines performance.

It was shuddering, stuttering, shaking, howling, vibrating, etc that happened at all ranges of driving. The howling was the worst. The diff in that truck is hot trash.

I haven't experienced the howling, and vibrating personally. I acknowledge that it drives like a truck, but I came from a Jeep Wrangler as my first vehicle sooo I was REALLY broken in to that sort of thing. My taco rides like a dream in comparison but with Fox 2.5s it should I guess. I was ready to mod this truck so I supposed that puts us in two different categories

EDIT: also, the tune really helped with the stuttering, shaking and poor throttle response overall for the record. I get that not everyone wants to mod but on a 36k truck that I'd get probably 30 for in trade 800 bucks to fix everything pales in comparison to a 6k loss and I'm happier with the truck now having 'figured it out' and worked through issues to make it mine... I guess I'm a weird kind of person for having a deep appreciation for that process

I recently got a quote on a new 2017 DCSB in Silver Sky, with Tow pkg, Floor Liners, and 5" oval steps in black, MSRP of $37,502, for $34,469. The deals are out there!
