Hey everyone. I'm in the market for some wheels and tires. Just got a Toytec 3 in. Boss lift with light racing UCA's and am wanting to put 285/70/17 on her. Looking at a set of wheels 17x9 with +1 offset. Ive read tons of threads covering this topic, but it goes everywhere from backspacing to offset being the issue. How much trimming and, if any, CMC will I need to be doing? I'm trying to avoid CMC as much as possible. Thanks for the help!

With that size tire you'll have to do bmc regardless. If you get a wheel that's inward so much that you don't have to bmc then you tire will hit control arm. After that minor wheel well flare trimming is likely going to be necessary

Im running 285/70R17s and I did not have to CMC. Everyones truck is different and if you do UCAs also, you can adjust the caster even further to move them off the cab mount a little bit. My tire also doesn't hit my control arm. I only had to trim a tiny tiny bit of inner fender plastic.

Very true they are all a little different as are the actual tire sizes depending on manufacturer.

Maybe not the right thread, but I am gonna throw it out there anyhow, as an avid do-it-yourselfer. I can make the CMC cut and get the pre-fab covers to weld back on...my question is since I have a wire feed welder , 120vac, what size wire and heat would suffice to make a decent weld? Any suggestions or techniques to get a decent solid weld?

I can lay down a bead but am looking for somebody in the know for feedback on this one.
