I have been doing a lot research lately about getting a lift done to my truck. I've read a lot of past threads on this forum to learn as much as possible but I'm still not 100% confident and just need some reassurance from you fine folk that I'm doing this right. :D Don't want to forget anything or overlook something.

Bought my 04 Double Cab TRD PreRunner in '10 and have always drooled at the Tacomas I see on the road that are lifted with the wide tires. Something about it makes it look a lot better than stock. All I do is use it for city driving so it's purely an aesthetic thing to me. I've been offroading once (if you could call it that) so it's not the purpose of my wanting to put this together.

So on to the meat of the bone!

    Lift

I'm looking at this setup from Toytec for a 3" front and back lift. To make sure I understand the 3" infront is fine, and the 2" AAL will lift it to an even 3 in the back as well. Will this make the back sag compared to the front? I want to make sure it still has a lower front than back like stock (or at least completely even).

    Tires

I already have 16" wheels purchased, looking to put on 285/70/16s like the Nittos. What do I have to look forward to when it comes to rubbing? It's only city driving afterall.

Let me know what you guys think...

    Currently looks like this:

same setup you're after, but i run 285/75/16 with 1.25" wheel spacers. trimmed the inner fender behind front wheels and hammered the pinch weld flat. no rubbing issues around town

    I love the stance!

Where did you get your spacers? Would I have a local mechanic put them on for me or is it something I could probably do in my garage?

Also, with the trimming--since the tires would be 285/70 and yours 75, do you think I'd still have the same issue?

my wheel spacers are spidertrax. depending on the wheels your running, they're not required, but they are easily installed just like you would put a wheel on. but there are several off road sites that carry them.

you may not rub as bad, but trimming never hurts

Just a follow-up, the 2" AAL will make the rear even with the 3" up front correct?

3" lift EIBACH coils w/ 5100's front, OME/ Dakar leaf springs w/ toytec adjustable shackles at 1.5" and 5125's out back. 33x10.5x15 KM2's Relentless DIY steel bumper.
The 2"AAL should bring the rear up enough to be atleast level with the front. It also depends on how worn your stock leafs are. But since your getting Coilovers you can just adjust the front to be lower than the back. That's one upside to Coilovers like the ones you wanting compared to the non adjustable Coilover I have. Depending how you use the truck and how much weight you put in the bed will determine how long the AAL will keep the rear lifted 2". I'd recommend getting the progressive AAL, a new leaf pack, or getting some Chevy springs and doing a refurbish job with some thick/ strong 1 ton Chevy leaf springs. There's a couple writeups on here on how to do the Chevy leaf spring swap. But overall your heading in the right direction for your lift.

I moved up from 15s to 16s. I'm running 285/75/16 KM2s with 1.5" wheel spacers. Just do the pinch weld mod and a little trimming off front plastic bumper and you're good

Well I run 33x12.50x15 on my 04 X-Cab with a 2.5 lift and had to trim my fenders and pinch weld alittle bit but other than that I'm fine doesn't rub and I do off-roading and daily driving with it.

OME 881 on bilstein w/ AAL. 33x12.50x15 Duratrac on 15x8 3.75 bs. Pinch weld required a massage with a BFH. Having the caster cranked also helped a bit. I don't rub when daily driving but get a little when I take it off road
