Hey guys I've been surfing the forum for the last few weeks reviewing different 3-inch lifts. I am now starting to order parts and so far have only ordered the Bilstein 5100 shocks. I am also going to get the 885 coils, but what I don't know is if my truck will be level with the icon Progressive 1 1/2 inch Leaf pack. The toytec add a leaf Progressive says it adds 2 inches to the rear. Should I get one over the other or will either level the truck nicely? Any extra info before I pull the trigger on the rest of my parts would give me a piece of mind. Thanks

BTW I have the 07 Tacoma SR5 TRD access cab

If you're still carrying the shell around you may want something with a little more in the back. Extra weight can have an impact on lift amounts. Steel bumpers, bed racks, and tool boxes add up quickly. I'm probably going to replace my AAL with a full leaf pack soon since I'm looking at rear bumpers now.

Yeah I still have the cap on. May take it off in the summer otherwise I my just leave it on because it's really nice just throwing shit in the bed. Good point, I'll I've to consider full leaf pack then? That adds some cost.. lol

You don't have to go to a full pack, there are multi leaf AAL options that may work.

Okay. So far all I'm seeing that's affordable is the 2"or 1.5" progressive. If you have any links that'd be great. Don't wanna spend more than 400 on the rear

Just replace the whole leaf pack.

Stock leafs are shit. Any AAL or progressive AAL will just be a bandaid.

Either go with Dakars in the rear or a custom Deaver or Alcan leaf pack

Yes. Dakars are 2.75" of lift and a custom leaf pack can be any desired number and spring rating you want.

Leafs and coils provide lift. Shocks provide dampening.

He is right. I put the bandaid on mine, now I'm looking at the OME leaf pack.

Typically you get more lift out of the full leaf pack but there are places that can make you a custom setup to accomplish what you're trying to do.

    :humble:

In all seriousness though, I got a single AAL and towed the family pontoon boat once and I sagged like a MF'er. Replaced with Dakars like 2 weeks later. Buy once, cry once.

My AAL was super cheap... under $40... but I have a camper shell now and I'm looking into rear bumpers with swingout.

Got one waiting for some love and affection and then she's going on:

I have a shell too. I suggest getting Dakars with the D29XL AAL for the extra weight. ESPECIALLY if you're going with a steel bumper like me

Awesome, thanks everybody for the good info.I probably should have mentioned that in the summer I pull around an 18' fiberglass bass boat fairly frequently. Will the Dakar leaf pack still be a good solution?

Should the 885 coils suffice up front

EL096R-P - OME HD Rear leaf springs 2005+ Tacoma (SET) - Constant Load 300 Kgs/661 Lbs

    Or

EL095R-P - OME Rear leaf springs 2005+ Tacoma (SET)

Both are Dakar, I don't see a weight on the second listing from toytec

885 will get you 2.5" you have to add a .5" top plate spacer to get 3". 887's will give you 3" without the need for the half inch top plate spacer

885 coils will give you around 2.5" of lift, maybe 2.75". They gave me 2" with my sliders, skids, and tools that are in the cab. I put top plate spacers in to make up the difference. 5100s can handle 1/2" spacers (1" lift) with plenty of safety margin before bottoming out.

with 887, you miss squeezing out that extra travel in the shock
