Search the threads. Ton of threads on 285/70/17, 285/75/16. And Google "tire size calculator" biggest help for comparing tire sizes and understanding metric sizes.

Anyone realize the OP is asking about a 2005 Tundra?

Not asking about tundra. My tacoma will be here hopefully in december.

Interested in 255 now. Mostly winter driver. Same three questions apply

What does a regear consist of on a 2016 V6? How many people that have put on 285's have reported needing to do this?

Thanks for the info to my question. I found on tirerack that the 265/65 will fit a 7-9" wheel. So if I go 8" Ill be good. FWIW I searched a lot of threads about rims and never found any info on correct rim width or offsets, plenty of opinions on sizes and lifting though.

With a 255 you will not need a new wheel; most likely it'll be more narrow than a stock tire and won't fit on a wheel wider than 8". You'll need to lift or trim if you get a 33" tall tire. If you want to tow often, a re-gear may be wise. Some further reading on narrow versus wide tires if you're interested.
