    Thread revival!
Just brought my truck in for a 45k mile oil change and they told me I missed my 30k routine maintance. They also qouted me 980$ for all the fluids. funny thing is, I've taken the truck in every 5k miles for oil changes and they've never even mentioned this before until today.
I can't stand paying them to even change my oil, let alone all of this.

5K oil changes? It looks like you have a 3rd Gen. Isn’t that 10k oil changes?

at 30k mile you shouldn't have to touch the PS fluid at all
    wtf is 'optimizer'
Why not do 5 tho, if you do a lot of stop n go traffic, idling, towing etc I say you'd be dumb not to.

you can literally do all of that in your driveway if you search around on YouTube or on Tacoma world, there are threads everywhere on how to do the stuff at almost no cost. Generally everywhere you go. Most of that quote you got is labor and that is just insane.

totally! that will be my plan when I hit 100k. I always thought these fluids were "lifetime" AKA 100k miles.. maybe thats just a german thing?

Do it all yourself or at a shop you can trust but not at 30k. I'd start thinking at 50k

Brake fluid is due every 2 years or so… so if yours is old enough do that. Rest is too soon.

Wait till you get to 90k....I took the wife's prius to what I consider the fairest Toyota dealer here. Was $1100, but that included replacing rotted through brake lines.

I only replaced the brake fluid around 200k miles in my 2001 tundra. That was when the truck was about 12 years old. It looked a bit yellowish. Truck seemed to stop fine.
You listen to some on here, they will have you changing your motor oil every week.

That’s what Toyota calls for. 2 years or 30k miles. Sure there is some dude somewhere that will not change his oil ever or do anything rolling around in a pile. But it is what it is.

Thats nuts. Always follow your owners manual for service intervals. Dealers can make a menu saying anything they want it to say. None of the dealer service menus are “required” service by Toyota . Dealers make all that up and Its just their way to pay themselves bonuses by scaring customers into buying gravy work.

Unless you are having a specific issue they found that requires attention, just follow the book.

Im at 130k and have only done oil changes, lol. Don't come at me, 3rd taco and I've owned 5 tundra's, all sold with over 250k miles. Not much maintenance needed.
