I have a compressor bleeder too, works awesome, sometimes I will even press the brake pedal a time or too while it's going if there is a little stubborn trapped air.

What does Toyota recommend for brake flushing on the third gen Tacoma?

I have used this brake Fluid for probably 20+ years. It has a really high boiling point. I’ve had vehicles in the past that boiled the stock brake fluid and then almost couldn't stop. This fluid will solve that problem. Also if you are tired of warped rotors this fluid will solve that problem. I have given every vehicle a chance when new to perform with the stock fluid and it has let me down with guaranteed warped rotors after about 30k miles. Mostly Hondas and Acura’s. Then it happened on my 350z at 16k miles and I told myself that I should have swapped out the brake fluid a lot sooner. After replacing the rotors and using this brake fluid I had Zero issues for the next 135k miles on the same rotors just slapping on new pads as they wore down. I have already done this on my truck as I got BIT on our 2013 Camry UGH! Swapped out rotors and brake fluid on that car and went another 90k miles with Zero issues. NEVER AGAIN will I trust factory brake Fluid. After 5k miles I swap it out with the better fluid. Don't go out and do this unless you are experiencing these issues as everyone's driving style is different. I live in California where it is HELL during the summer. If you live in Alaska you need not worry.

They recommend inspecting the level and color every 5k miles. Fill when the level is low and change when the color is dark.

This.... the water will basically destroy the innards of your brake system.

    Thanks!

This helps. I would stick with Stuff you could easily get at auto zone or Walmart so that it can be easily sourced and has a DOT rating. Looks like Bosch and Champion have a DOT 5.1 Rating but I would make sure they could be easily sourced. I do know that some are worried about synthetic fluid getting moisture? I can only report on the Valvoline that this is not true for the past 20 years

Valvoline synthetic dot 3 and 4 and have never any moisture issues in 20 years. I would always flush when it started to get cloudy. Maybe Staying on top of the Flushing of the fluid is the key. I'll try a 5.1 when i find a vehicle that still manages to get warped rotors or boiled brake fluid using the Valvoline. The 350z I abused for 10 years never flinched

I don't see it listed in the recommended maintenance schedule in the manual. Did the dealer tell you this, or is it listed somewhere else?

    Toyota website.

If you go to service schedule and put in my mileage (46,800km) at 48k km roughly 30 000 miles is when it says lube prop shaft, tighten prop shaft and brake fluid change

I wonder why that's not in the manual. I'll have to log on and check mine since I'm at 34k miles.

Yeah I got nothing. I don't even see brake fluid explicitly mentioned at all other than generically "check all fluids".

These fucking dealers will stop at nothing to drag your ass in for frivilous, unnecessary and expensive service work.
    "flushing your brake system"
    What a crock of shit.
Unless water is physically put into your master cylinder reservior, there is NO need to fuck with your brake fluid... usually for the lifetime of the vehicle unless other components are replaced. (calipers/wheel cylinders/etc)

Inside brake calipers you'll find (see attached) stuff that you can't flush out with new brake fluid.

It is therefore good practice to physically clean, scrub hone rebuild or replace the calipers when the pads are worn out and replaced. This happens as normal byproduct of use and I have found no exceptions.

It does not seem to matter how much or often you flush, it has to be physically removed, therefore to me, flushing or replace the fluid is just pissing in the wind.

We have a bigger job to worry about, and we've got to get physical.

    Hope that helps
    Cheers!
