Idk if u can even machine flush anymore. I think it's done through the brake actuator, on the off-roads anyway.

Change it by sucking out the reservoir, then filling and bleeding with new until clear fluid comes out the wheel cylinders. Service facilities that flush normally screw up more than they fix by contaminating or otherwise damaging systems. I would never let anyone "flush" anything.

Brake fluid is like piss....if its dark amber or worse you need to hydrate. The systems needs new fluid. Brakes will work much smoother when they aren't corroding from the inside out.

At 30K miles, if the fluid is still clear to light amber, I wouldn't do it. Go by the fluid color.

Subaru recommends a brake flush every 30000 miles due to the new brake systems having so many more parts that the oil breaks down faster than the older systems and the fluid does get rather dirty by that time too!!!!

I go off-road quite often and bleed the brakes once a year or after an extended time spent on wet trails/water crossings.

If you have a Pro or Off-Road, get your brakes flushed. Coming from a 100 series Land Cruiser, the ABS system is troublesome and expensive if not maintained.

Fluid level inspection on Offroad/Pro(hydraulic booster) is a little different.
If doing a replacement, I'm pretty sure you have to follow the whole bleed procedure to cycle all fluid circuits.
The solution to pollution is dilution.

In my experience, rear drums last quite a while. Although I've never owned a Tacoma *previously*. Your fluid is probably fine.

I did the flush . Even though I don't think it needed I still have warranty and I figured for the sake of that. At least by doing it if something say happens with the brakes in another 20k I did what I was supposed to by their standards.

Someone mentioned it above and does bring up a valid point. We spend upwards of 40k on our trucks new and cheap out on a roughly $100 fluid change? The one fluid that's in charge of stopping the truck.

U gonna do the one man brake bleed? Do it like chrisfix and I can't imagine you'd have an issue.

Down here in FL, that 30k is probably a good idea, Same for any other really humid area. I’ve had brake fluid start to get pretty dark at the 2 year mark on multiple cars I’ve owned, new/used regardless. I’m likely going to just do the truck at the 2 year mark at the oil change/rotation, wheels will be off anyway, it’s a simple procedure, and 2 containers of brake fluid is cheap.

I've never flushed the brake system on any vehicle I've owned and have never had any brake issues with the exception of the typical pad/rotor/brake shoe replacements.

My 96 Tacoma 4x4 has 414,000 trouble-free miles and still has original master cylinders, calipers, hoses/lines, wheel cylinders and fluid. I've replace the pads a 1/2 dozen times, rotors twice and rear shoes 3 times. I have added fluid a few times.

I used to use a BG pressure bleeder back when I was a tech. On older cars, the fluid down by the calipers was usually black or very dark brown. It's not a bad idea to change your fluid IMO, but opinions are like assholes.

No. I followed this video and it worked fine for both my current truck and my previous 2nd gen (both TRD OR):

Only difference is you do it with power on, engine not running (key "on" or two presses of the start button). Press the brake pedal and the electronic booster will pump fluid into your bleeder bottle.

My bleeder bottle is a Nestea bottle with a hole drilled in the cap for 1/4" silicone hose. Over time the hose will harden - basically need to be replaced every 3-4 years before you do the brake flush.

    g5DYOs6EjuK1NknhL27pijolGl2fHOJyuzsvFUyX_b74f11d29d1cef10d3779f9ae94a0baa6d656a43.jpg

TechStream is likely needed if you ever replace the electronic booster and need to bleed it. Same with non-OR trucks when you replace the ABS module.
