If you do a "Gravity Bleed" you can replace all of your Fluid without special tools except some clear hose. No helper needed and no pumping. I've read about people who actually introduced air into their brake systems using those hand pumps. It takes a while but since I have the wheel off I clean, lubricate, inspect, and rust prevent all of the other components while bleeding since everything is easy to reach. I changed my Wifes Subaru at 5 years old and the difference in color was significant. She knows nothing about cars but said "the brakes respond quicker and I don't have to push as hard". My 350z brakes were always great, but they felt even firmer after a change. If you want to keep a vehicle for a long time or like optimum performance I'd recommend changing the brake fluid every couple years. Or just skip it if you plan on trading it in.

Jeez, I have NEVER changed the brake fluid on any of my vehicles. I've also never had a problem related to water in the brake fluid. Maybe I'm just lucky.

The reasons for doing this make sense, but looking at the Maintenance Log it's not in there as a scheduled item. I would think they would put something like that in there.
