I've actually thought of that since I've been off and on with the same girl for almost two years. My answer is no, because she Is moving back next summer. Depends how far away it is from home/people I know.

Good and reliable girls are hard to find. I say if all the signs are there and what not. Maybe go stay a weekend or something and maybe talk about it. If it appears good on her side go for it. If it doesn't work. Go back home

I just worked out a sweet deal for getting my bumpers fabbed up. I can have them welded for $25 an hour, and I worked out a little trade deal with the fab guy to save some extra money if he needs my assistance. The welding shops around here are usually $60 an hour or more. I don't know what the market is for a 1st gen plate rear bumper, but I could probably produce them for $450. I'm contacting SAE to see how to get the hitch certified. That would be a big selling point if it's a class 3-4 integrated hitch.

Edit: The certification place is right down the road from me in Iowa. That should make it easier...

I think i remember one of the fab guys on here saying it was pretty pricy to get it SAE certified, and thats why most are not certified.

I will find out when they get back to me. Being that they are nearby, I can take it to them and don't need to worry about travel expenses and all that crap. Like I said, it would be a great selling point. Hitch companies couldn't sell a hitch for $125 if it costs a bunch to get each certified, even if they get a deal.

If you can make a plate bumper with side guards and a tire carrier then I'd be in! The market for 1st gens with a tire carrier is very low...

I've had requests for a wrap around, so I will work on it. Also a tire carrier would be pretty easy I'd say, even though I won't run one myself. I can still fab something I suppose.

And you say the market is low... To me, that means customers. You mean the suppliers I'm guessing. Obviously I don't want to sell to a weak market.

Yeah, I really like the Elite wrap-around bumpers, but I'd like a tire-gate as well. If I remember correctly after he made one for Blackdawg, he doesn't want to make another one... Haha

As for market being low, I meant as in very few people make them. CBI and Relentless Fab are the only two that I know of that makes them. CBI's wrap-arounds are just tubes, and Relentless Fab's is pretty expensive...

I'm looking to do a wrap around like the Elite, but my current bumper design wouldn't work with it. I'm on the fence at this point. Trying to come up with an easy way the add it.

I really like my CBI bumper. I have a hitch receiver hidden behind my license plate.

Not a tire carrier obviously but it's held up well.

Got an answer on my hitch. It only needs tested for liability issues. It's completely legal to tow with a homemade hitch. If I tow without it certified and the trailer rips off and kills someone, insurance won't be happy though.

It's about $600 to have my design certified, then every bumper is good to go. I would have to have like 15 orders before I went that far, or charge extra for a certified hitch. I'm pretty sure there aren't 15 people wanting a bumper like mine.

I have nothing against CBI's products, I just prefer the full plate bumper versus the tube or plate with tubed sides. Ypours looks great!

Elite bumper's hitches are not certified either, but you can ask anybody that has one and they'll tell you that they've never had a problem with it. All you have to have is a disclaimer. Not very many are worried that it's not certified, but it might get you a couple extra sales.

I'd go to another country for mines. I know I'm not gonna meet another girl like her. So I'm not gonna pass up the opportunity.
