All by my lonesome tonight doing mare watch...partner had an emergency and couldn't find someone to replace her.

 

when you say mare watch, you are doing guard duty?

 

We have a bunch of pregnant mares (horses) at school and they are under 24/7 watch to see if they go into labor. If they do I have to call the intern on duty in charge of her. People are here working during the day but they need people at night. So we have a 6 pm to midnight shift and a midnight to 6 am shift. Luckily this is my last one I have to do for the semester and it's the early one lol

 

i know what a mare is lol not to sound like an ass. one of my buddys is a mounted patrol officer and some punk decided to posion the horses with rat poison so now there is a watch at the headquarters, luckly they prick only got one horse before they found the poison and got her to the vet.

 

Have to train a new guy second night in a row. They think we sleep on graveyard shift. He could barely stay up during the second half of the shift. Lol.

I don't understand why people do that stuff...what scum.

On a side note, hot damn one of the mares is mean. I walked through both barns and as soon as I passed her stall (she has a foal with her) she pinned her ears. I walked up to check on the foal and she kept baring her teeth at me. Thank god we have bars on the front.

It was part of my equine reproduction class and we had to do it 4 times, so just once a month.
