you mean valve core? cause the core is what would get damaged without caps.

or did they have to take the tire off and replace the entire stem?

Big tires, big lift, Lots of stuff's.
Only if your credit is bad, you pay it off and close it or don't use it, then it hurts you. If you use it and carry a zero balance is the best way because you won't pay Intrest on it. I pay mine off every month but I also use mine for everything through out the month then pay it off.

They said it was the core leaking but they said they're just putting a new stem in. No big deal though, only like $20.

Yeah I saw your other post after I wrote that. I'm doing what you are with my wife right now to bring her up. I dropped a little adding her to help her out but I'm still over 800 though so I'm not worried about it. I use my cash back MasterCard for everything and just pay it off at the end of the month.

That's an urban legend; why give your CC company money every month (interest) and carry your balance? The way to build and keep your credit score in regards to CCs is to charge something to your card every month and pay it off every month.
How do I know this? I'm 27 (almost 28) years old, have a car loan, 2 motorcycle loans, a personal loan, 2 credit cards, and a paypal bill me later credit line and have a credit score of 730+. I tried the 10-20% thing until a financial adviser told me otherwise; my credit score began to go up 2 months later after I paid off my credit cards. I charge $100/month to each card and pay them off every month. When you do that there is no interest accumulated. Why give away your money?

You know the quick and easy way to check if a valve core is leaking, right?

The only time my credit score took a hit is when I closed a card. I think I am still over 820 though so not a big deal. I religiously pay that sucker off before it is due.

This is the way to do it.

IMO the only thing worth going into debt over is a house.

Me too. I don't pay Intrest on things when I don't have to. I make my wife use her card and we pay it off when she uses it. The closing of the cards is what kills you. You nailed it, as long as you are using them you can zero them out to build credit.

Yup. My parents could easily be driving BMW's, Volvos, and Lexus' but they buy all their cars in cash. They don't believe in going into debt just to drive a flashy car
