I was going to ask how, then i looked on tg's site...thats pretty surprising that the 8" housing is only 400 bucks! Im guessing all our current axle guts just swap right in and bolt up? still though, its double the price for the same basic thing. not like the housing makes the axle stronger. ring gears and spider gears still blow up just the same haha

Hmm. So I couldn't use mine? So maybe it isn't a direct swap.

hmm. thats odd. i could have sworn i was watching an episode of 4x4 or something on spike and they direct swapped the taco axle guts to a rock assault housing. This begs another question, if you have abs, the axles for abs and non abs are different and the axle seals are in a different position. and it looks like the only difference between the regular and e locker axle is a different flange plate they weld on the front. SO, unless they also make different end caps for the axle tubes you lose abs as well if you cant use the abs shafts, due to the seal being different. which is the only reason i could think of for using older toyota shafts.

oh ya, forgot your truck was 98. so wait, i thought all trd axles were abs. guess not. shit, if i had your axle i could still use my other axle shafts and hubs from my 8.4 axle and i wouldnt have had to bother with getting abs shafts and hubs. oh well

so why do you want a new axle haha? because of the rust?

Yeah rust. When we first bought it we rolled the axle out and got rid of most of the rust and put on rust eating stuff and painted it. But it came back with a vengeance.

And I know! Maybe I couldn't find a place to jump in! Lol

Sometimes I am initially. Though I've improved over how I used to be. Mostly I'm just a people watcher but now I really DGAF lol
