Yeah I'm trying to stay away from p school. I'll go if I am forced but that's about it. You Better start getting into some tech rescue stuff and he on a department that affiliated with usar. Personally after working with them in the floods I think usar teams are useless. They did absolutely nothing and they had all kinds of reasources to use. They didn't even make a trek up the mountain until a week into it after the local FD's, tech rescue teams, swift water guys, and hot shot crews cleared all the people off. I was up hiking there for two days working and I didn't see the usar teams leve the command post.

One department here has a USAR team. If there's a rope rescue needed for anything they are called no matter where it is. And they're a pretty good team from what I've heard/seen. I figure getting my Paramedic will make me more desirable. FF/P are getting paid the same in the next county as the batt chiefs for the city here. If I get with the beach, they'll pay for paramedic school since they're going ALS

Yeah we only hire paramedics now, and at this point it's about the only way to get a job these days. It's the way the fire service is going. I just have no need to go unless I'm told to go. We have a tech rescue team that's associated with several departments so we handle our own tech rescue. It's a large tech team though because of all the departments affiliated with it, nice to have. I'm sure the usar teams are good at the local level I'm just saying they are damn near useless at the national level from what ice seen from them. I'd do it though because they make bank and it would be fun to do nothing andake bank at the national level. :) would not be a bad side job for sure.

Yeah, it's just guys from one department. I'd call it more of a tech rescue or rope rescue team. They only have one trailer with gear so it's not like they need the world to do the stuff they're trained for. The same department also has the only dive team and boat here
