Same here. The house I grew up in was in a neighbor where all the houses looked different.

Not everyone wants the same shit you do. Personally I think my parent house now is too big.. I mean shit they have two living rooms.. But i know some people that 3000 sq ft would suit well

It has to do with when this house was made.. guess one of them used to be for entertaining.

The house I grew up in had a separate living room and family room. The two living rooms is new to me.

We have 2 living rooms in our house (2300 sq ft) 1 is for the TV and surround sound and big couches, and the other room is where dad usually sits and if we have company over the parents usually talk in that room while us younger folks are in the other room.

The house my folks live in now (and that I lived in for a few years) is 4 bed / 3.5 bath with a great room. That's the living room, family room, and dining room all combined into one. About 2400 sq ft.

we were a family of 5, square footage piles up, at a certain sized house you can't avoid some extra rooms, once you hit 4 or 5 bedrooms, you tend to get houses that have a a living room and a family room, often a bonus room as well and a formal dining and eat in kitchen. The more bedrooms you add the less likely you can get away with minimal

This makes sense, if you can cough up the coin. Have a media room, and then have a "Sitting room" to read, have coffee, or talk in.

our house wasn't big for where we lived

5 bed 3.5 bath, family room, media room, living room/study, office, eat in kitchen, formal dining room, laundry room. huge yard. Purchased at ~200k sold at 500k

this was in Atlanta, the house is worth the investment, and larger houses are easier to sell than smaller houses imo, less limited to who wants it.
