    Yeahhhh buddy!!
The only seat if you ask me. :D my engineer wants me to fill in days for him where we swap and I drive and he does my job. I told him I have no problem with the way he drives to calls.

I like my enclosed cabs, because of the weather out here. I have no reason to promote because I like what I do and make enough money. The jump in pay is nice to engineer but like I said I like where I ride in the truck and the job I get to do. Plus I have a feeling I'm going to be pushed into paramedic school next year, which I'm not to excited about.

My brother told me that one of his instructors said that they're putting EMT into the next standards class. So it looks like I don't have to take that. But Paramedic will follow within the next few years

Yeah we have to be EMT here or the state won't issue a FF1 cert. our department just hired 2 medics and put 6 through the 6month program. They are looking at 3 more to go to class next year, and as it sits I'm at the bottom of the seniority list on my shift right now so I'll prolly be told I have to go to p-school.

I've heard Paramedic school is like a full time job. Doesn't sound too fun

The new stuff is awesome all LES's and really bright.
Yeah it's crazy, the normal program is tough in its self the fast track program that fire departments use is 6months. Their thought is we don't have to work during it but we still collect our pay so we should be fine. I have friends that have done the 6month program without being hired on somewhere and they said it was was terrible because they had to go to work on top of it.

There's only one department in the county that does ALS at all so hopefully I'll be able to dodge that for awhile

Yeah it's the way of the future right now. When I started we were not running medics now we are staffing 3 rigs on each shift with medics. I'm going to dodge it as long as possible. If I was single and no kids I would go through the program but it would just be a pain in the ass right now.

We have the largest department in florida that doesn't even do first responder here. But they're the "best" around. Hoping to get on there, but if my brother does, I'm gonna try for the beach and they run ALS on either one or two engines

Yeah it will happen in most areas. Just a toss up with the big departments. Denver fire will prolly never be ALS but that's because there are some many Denver paramedics working for the ambulance service that's hospital based. So that system works well. I'm too white to be hired on there though I don't fill the quota for them. :D

Ambulance work has never really been for me. The county just recently took EMS over since the new owners of the hospital didn't want it

Yeah better start to like it, it's 90% of what you do as a firefighter well ems is not really ambulance work depending on who you work for.

I enjoy it as long as I go to the call on a firetruck and return the same. :)
