That makes sense. I think the camera itself is having problems. The static sound to me sounds like the camera writing to the memory card. Obviously this shouldn't be heard. Lauren, if I were you I'd contact gopro and let them know what's going on. I'm sure they'll take care of the issue for you.

My sister knows the guy who started gopro (she has his personal cell number) and says that he's a really nice guy and makes sure that people that work for gopro are as nice as him and willing to make customers happy. I've met a few gopro employees at various events and they've all been really nice and have given me free mounts. The play rock paper scissors for gopro cameras at events. What I'm getting at is gopro isn't out to screw customers.

Yeah I emailed them already. And plus, if it's already acting weird, even if I somehow fixed it, I don't really trust it to not act up again in the future.

 

Make sure you get a new and not "certified new".

Once you get a reply email, push for exchanging it for a new one.

I have a dilemma. I just got offered a sponsorship by Replay XD cameras and will get 35% off retail pricing. Problem is I won't be allowed to use my gopro as part of the agreement. So if I'm out riding trails on the weekend and happen to get spotted using my gopro while sponsored by Replay, I can be found in violation of the contract, lose the sponsorship, and potentially have to give back any products I bought. Worth it or not?

Yes, but if it's because of bad firmware then it's not because of anything physically bad. So if that were to fix it then you won't have any issues...

Yeah, I'm trying to time it right to get my tie rods, wheel bearings and lower ball joints replaced by the end of the month so I feel safe driving it long distances again.

Luckily my alignment isn't so bad that the tires are wearing too badly, yet...

That's why I can't wait to pay the truck off so I can buy something new that I won't have to worry about breaking something on since I'll drive it how it was intended... Haha

But until then I'll be sitting at a shop for 7+ hours anytime I have big maintenance issues like getting the wheel bearings replaced Thrusday...

 

So I signed the agreement with Replay XD. Their cameras only go up to 1080p 30fps but they're way cheaper than gopro. I'll be getting 35% of cameras and accessories. They have a lot of cases/mounts and they're cheaper than gopro accessories.
