Starting next week Monday I'll be working out of town for at least three months assisting one our Superintendents on a big project we have in Barstow, CA. I can't say I'm excited to be living in a hotel for three months... The woman isn't too happy I'll be gone either. Gotta do what you gotta do though, right? At least I have a job that pays well and I enjoy 90% of the time. It's going to be pretty damn hot for the first two months I'm out there too. Should be a lot of desert roads/trails to explore on the weekends though. And Las Vegas and the beach are both only two hours away.

Yeah, Barstow sucks. Like I said though Vegas and the beach are each only 2 hours away. And lots of desert trails. I used to live in Phoenix so I'll be stopping out there a couple weekends to see friends.

So after some discussion about my new tires and air pressure in another thread, I'm once again turning to ya'lls for the wonderful, un-sarcastic, helpful information distributed here.

The load range E 265/75-16 tires I got were inflated to 65 psi. I aired them down to 35 psi earlier today. I've been told that's too low and now the tires are under-inflated. Apparently I'm not supposed to run less than 30% of the max psi. That would mean I should air them up to 56 psi (70% of the max 80 psi). Am I the only one that thinks that sounds a little wrong and that I'll be fine at 35 psi?

Really nobody can tell you what psi to run. Every truck will be different if the weight isn't the same. The foolproof method of getting the correct tire pressure is the chalk method...

 

I think I run about 35 in my 285/75/16s load E and it's been fine.

 

I run 30-35 in my 33/12.50/15 Load C tires depending on the temps, and the max is 35psi haha

Just goes to show that you can't go off what the sidewall says.

 

My truck calls for 29psi in the stock tires, i've always run 32-35 in my aftermarket tires
