Ha, its irritating. It did it yesterday and i tightened them then it didnt happen till on my way home tonight so i tightened them again. May just be buying some new clamps/hose.

Used to love that show.

 

If anyone tells you GPA doesn't matter...tell them to get a clue. Because mine (or lack there of) has been straight fucking me recently.

Welcome to getting fucked. It doesnt matter after that first job but getting that first one is a pain in the ass and mine was higher than my friends who found jobs first (but they live in a different area than i was wanting)

 

That first job happens to be a crucial stepping stone for my career path...so its kind of important.

isnt the first job always? But good luck! I know its a hassle, but youll find something eventually or just show them that gpa isnt a deal breaker.

Also an idea is take your gpa off applications if it is lower than expected. I did that and had better luck.

 

No. but a couple were partly my fault on the application process and misunderstanding how the company did it through the school. However i am almost certain gpa is the first throw out...and mine just didnt cut it for a couple (top 4 firms) i was interested in. So I just have to work super hard and make it my priority to boost that sucker up!

which is frustrating because this gal i know (super nice girl), is in her junior year and is just starting upper division classes and she has a 3.7 and is getting second round interviews and doesent even know shes learning fucking GAAP in her 304 course! WTF! Thats your job as an auditor...to know GAAP and you dont even know what it encompass?!

I mean with a specific niche of firms, Its hard to become a CPA auditor in a top 10 firm if you cant get hired in there.

Im not worried about finding a job..i already have one and have been offered another and I still have a year to go. But being an auditor at a top 10 national firm is a big accomplishment and I want to know I have the capacity to make that. My gpa is not on applications except where required, but the application is done through the school so they get it regardless.

Yup. This is the worst time to try and raise my gpa. sadly its only a 3.15...and I have to crest 3.2 at a minimum so thats my lowest benchmark. which is attainable but I have to get all As and b+s which is fucking hard in all 400 level classes. I just fucked myself from not caring much my first 2 years.

 

It's ridiculous how easy it is to lower a GPA and how hard it is to raise it up. And I'm not saying "well it's easy to not do your work", just how it's weighted.

yup. especially when your school uses a +/- system. getting a b- will actually hurt me. how cruel is that

im at 3 As and 2Bs right now. If i study my dick off I feel I can keep that which would be ok

 

I got the ball rolling on this other potential job, so hopefully I have some luck there.

They started freaking out when they got denied PT/OT school & started searching for other routes they can take with a low gpa.

The "what am I suppose to do" sentence means reality set in for them. At least you realize it though and are making it a goal to get it up

As far as the girl...the best predictor of future performance is past performance. The 3.7 says she has a history of knowing her stuff. Odds are she will pick up the areas she lacks and the company is willing to invest in her because they see potential.....assuming she doesn't mess up her interviews.

 

i cant imagine in the scheme of things it will matter much, im sure its only difficult because other than your GPA you don't have much to measure yourself with

 

Some times you just gotta wait too. Buddy of mine here was a graduate of Washington university here and that's a top tier school. Could not find a job anywhere. Year later. Boeing offered him a job. Was worth the wait Id say.

 

Im sure she will do fine. I just want the chance to talk to them myself because I feel I do have what it takes.

What sucks is I however do have a lot to measure myself on. I have worked a busy season in a tax firm and now have an internship with one of the largest companies in the state. but its frustrating I cant go and share that because they get hundreds of applications and have to filter them somehow...and gpa is the first one on the list.
