My mom decided we were gonna save all this money by buying like all my food from the commissary here.. So I had to cram 2 months worth of food, TV, clothes, college stuff, etc into my truck.. I got it all in but there is no room for anyone but me in there haha

 

I honestly don't see the price difference between the commissary and places like Wal-Mart or Sams.

 

Around here there is but some places yeah I know what you mean. Especially with the 5% surcharge

 

Big difference. You get the name brand stuff for the same price you get great value.

 

I only get name brand stuff... then again the only main thing I get with any sort of brand on it is Monster. The majority of my food is all fresh from produce/meat counter.

I avoid the center aisles like the plague if I can. Now, if my wife decides to go shopping with me it's a different story.

 

Yeah I've noticed meat quality is some times better on post. I shop mostly at Walmart or albertsons. But I do like the meats at the commissary.

 

In KS I had a place called fresh market... I'm still looking for a place like that up here. I prefer all fresh meat vs. pre-packaged. I especially like the places that will cut the steaks for you at the store and all that fun jazz.

 

I have found when I want fresh cut cost co has a great meat selection that they will butcher for you.

damn, how do you fit 2 months of food into a dorm room? ramen and instant easy mac? lol

Im the same way... the only thing I get from a box is quaker oats... microwave and eat

I would agree! Commissary meats are the best I've seen and tasted.

Yeah but a meal plan is $1950 and ill spend less than $1000 the whole semester

 

Nice, how's the food over at your college.... The stuff here wasn't ever that great. I enjoyed it but I didn't have to eat it every day like my friends did lol

 

The head of the cafeteria at my school has some big ole honkers. Got food poisoning once and had to meet with her

 

must be nice... UNM is a dry, as fuk, campus haha

 

I never had a meal plan in college I would climb through the window and grab a tray. we had dual kitchens in my house I college so we would play battle kitchens to see who could cook the best food with the ingredients provided by the other room mates haha.

 

Hmmmm... Sounds legit... people buying you food to cook. I could totally do that haha.. as long as I could eat it too

Yeah I never lived in them I had an apartment before I went o college so I was able to skip that part, I crashed the doorms all the time though. Battle kitches was a good time.

Fuck yeah we ate too, that was the poimt of winning so you didmt have to buy the following week, we had all kinds of cooking apliamces too. Deep fryers, ice cream makers, pannini press, all kinds of shit haha.
