Figured I start a little thread on my truck

    2009 sr5 4x4 dcsb

I bought this truck 1year ago in April of 17 with 236,000 miles.

It had new tires so I burned the tread off of them before I started doing much to it.
    Just turned over 290,000 miles.

A few days ago I got a set of Falken wildpeaks in 265/75/16. Love them so far. They fit fine at stock hight on stock wheels. Zero rubbing even on rough terrain in the oil fields with mud flaps.

Today I put on bilstein 5100 set all the way up
OME Dakar leaf pack with the biggest over load removed. Took the thickness of the pack from 2.5inch to 2 inch even.

Next will be all of the differential fluids, trans fluid, spark plugs and possible radiator switch. I’m at very least going to have to take it out and clean it. It’s packed with mud and weeds at the bottom. Gets hot when idling during the summer.

    Getting started.

Nice truck that should last you even with the mileage. I bought the wife a 2012 with 140k and not worried a bit.

Thanks guys. I put 50 to 60,000 miles a year on my work trucks so I’m going to see if I can make it to 500,000. It runs great, good power. I’m not worried about it at all. Only issue right now is the getting hot at idle but it’s because of all the crap in the radiator. I’ll adress that tomorrow probably.

I check all the components on the front while I had it apart. Looks to have had ball joints replaced and the rack is tight so I think I’m good there as well.

Lol. Radiator switch. I saw a thread here where a guy switched in an aluminum one that’s for a 4Runner I believe with just a couple mods to get it in.

Looking forward to the progress and updates. I just went on KBB.com to check mine. I paid $26,500 two years ago and it's worth over $25,000 today. Even my wife's Acura can't hold a stick to that.

I believe it’s all aluminum. I’ll try to find the thread. No plastic tanks on the side etc. and mines 9 years old. Probably still plenty good. No leaks or anything. Just the getting warm issue during the summer. But like I said. The part sticking below the ac condenser is packed full of crap killing it’s ability to get rid of the heat unless I’m moving.

Sitting a little higher in the back than I’d hoped but I bet it will settle. Like a dummy I forgot to measure anything before I started.

And I’m going to do some digging. My frame is in amazing shape. Granted in came out of Oklahoma but damn it’s in really good shape.

Are these TSB springs? They look new like the frame. I’m wondering if the frame was replaced and new springs put on at some point.

And a pic showing the difference.

If you pull the radiator out, be sure to clean the condenser good while you’re in there.

That’s the one I was talking about. Thanks for the link. And I’ll take your advice and be sure to do that.

Got the alignement done this morning and have been driving around running errands and changed the oil/filters etc. one thing I love about the dakars is that they get rid of that damn axle wrap shutter at takeoff from a light. I’m liking the way it rides so far. We’ll see what tomorrow brings when I get to the field.

    Thanks again.

After 600 miles so far this week I can say I’m super happy with this setup. Looks wise and ride wise. On and off road it handles well. No drive shaft vibes or steering wheel shake and no reduction in mpg. Zero rub in any situation. The billies and dakars soak up the bumps really well. The stock rear shocks are a hair short. I have to really get it flexing to top the shocks out but when they finally go south I’ll put on some fox 2.0 or the equivalent.

Now to update the head unit, clean the radiator or replace and change the tranny and diff fluids. I’ll probably do a little customizing on the body too. I’ve always liked the satoshi grill mod and stormtrooper look for the super whites.
