Not really. I spent 10 years running nuclear propulsion plants for the Navy and know a decent amount about Tribology. Properly filtered, that synthetic 0W20 is still doing its job at 10K. Besides, I'll go TU before that engine does

My truck was previously a company work truck, and based on the service records they did nothing but oil changes and tires. I've been catching up on all the maintenance, and I don't think anything else was touched except the rear diff fluid looks like it might have been changed (a crush washer was missing and the fluid was cleaner than expected). It has 129k miles.

@silverstr8p made it 177k with likely few or no oil filter changes.

I tried to get that fancy Toyota transfer case fluid. Dealer didn’t have any, asked them what they’d do if I wanted my transfer case serviced? Said they’d put in 75w90 lmao

so I went and put Amsoil 75w90 GL4 in it and it’s been working great. Has to be GL4 though because apparently the transfer case has brass in it and GL5 is bad for it. GL4 is made to protect them. It actually switches to 4WD faster now than before when it would just flash at me for 2 minutes then engage
