If you do the work yourself, and especially if you have an extended warranty, I suggest you document recommended service milestones and keep your receipts.

My 2004 6-cyl had Iridium or platinum plugs. Are you saying that the 2008's went back to cheap copper plugs??

Can you upgrade to the iridiums so that after the 30k your good to 130k?

yup, and alot of people have done so. i went with the standard coppers though, mainly because of price per plug, plus i really dont mind changing them every 30k, although.....i may go with the iridiums at 60k anyway.

I talked to my service tech today about teh copper vs iridiums.
he said in the 05+ he would not reccomend going to the iridiums.

The reason he gave was the truck was not meant to run and them and the trucks he has done with them have came back in pinging.

Just due to this i may go with the coppers. If OEM is copped i figure there may be a reason since the technology was already availble and they had used it before.

just my opinion, but i think he's just blowing smoke man. the higher compression on the 4.0v6 tacomas has a bit to do with that there. the pinging he is talking about is more than likely due to cheaper gas.......not the plugs. iridiums supposedly spark a little better than the coppers, so i highly doubt what he says about pinging being caused by plugs.

on the other side.....the coppers are cheaper. relatively easy to change in the v6 too, so go with them. cant go wrong either way, imo.

I could see him mention them causeing "ping" if they werent iridium plugs. Hotter pugs cant shed heat away from the combustion chamber causing the ping, but, All Iridium plugs are a colder heat range than the factory plugs. I think the Tech. is just an idiot. :)

So at 30K miles if I change to Iridiums, I can let them go for 100k miles? Anyone know the part number for Iridiums for a 2008??

hey guy on the Rear Diff... Since i have the Sport - not Off Road
I do have a LSD correct?
Do i need to do my rear diff at 30K? The manual says with LSD.
So I assume just the SPORTS need it changed at 30K not the Off Roads because they have a Locking rear diff.

    Am i reading this right???

I think tha manual calls for all models to be changed at 30,000. For the LSD, you have to use an LSD addative. I change mine at 15,000 miles as I used it hard, and tow a boat. :)
