Holy shit....Please report to as many agencies and sites as possible. This is bordering on fraud. Someone who doesn't know any better might actually pay that. I'd even contact Toyota as this looks bad on them.

Even at dealer prices, there is $300 worth of materials there (including the insane price of Toyota transfer case fluid). That means they are quoting 12 to 15 hours labor. Not a snowballs chance in hell.

Sorry guys had to eat dinner with the old lady. Thanks for the tips and advice! I did see some stuff that I can scratch off the list but even then its still going to be pricy.

Toyotas maintenance schedule for the 30k service says to check the fluids not automaticaly assume that all the fluids have to be changed.

My girl friends dad has a good friend who runs a Toyota dealership in the mainland so we're gonna send him the list and see what he says about this. Will keep you guys posted, I have about a month before I hit 30k so I have some time to figure this out.

They forgot to put down: drain and fill the air in the tires. We all know it’s critical due to the air in tires getting old after 30k miles. I believe that’s another $400 added on.

The service only includes - "Check installation of driver side floor mat". I think you would need to get the premium service package to cover the passenger side also.

To be fair, I'd be super pissed if my floor mat was installed incorrectly.

This may be important if a person only holds onto a vehicle until the warranty expires.

Tacoma trucks don't have an issue with resale value, so that is mute.

And if a goon pays $1500 for useless services several times during ownership, the money spent will certainly chew into any resale value gains.

I paid $20k for my Gen 1 Taco in 1997. In that time I have never once taken it to a dealer or any other shop for service. In the 20 years of ownership, and 218k miles on the ODO, I have spent less than $1500 in parts on it, not counting new tires.
The original radiator just developed a hairline crack and I will be replacing it this week.

Feel free to spec out my 1997 Tacoma XtraCab 4x4 LX 5spd manual and tell me how bad the resale value is after 20 years.

    My recommendation:

-Pick up dog poop with that invoice and mail it to your dealership.

-Find someone in your area that is the go to wrench monkey in your area. Every place has that one person that does maintenance, installs lifts etc. Post up in the regional section. Typically labor will be a flat price and most will let you help and learn as well.

-The good thing about owning a Tacoma is that there are millions of them. This is the first vehicle where I can search the Googles or Youtube and find something pertainining to what I need. Start knocking some of that stuff out now. You can start by checking your floor mats....The fact that Toyota put floor mats on there is beyond belief...but then again...modern society. Anyways, back on point. Start knocking out your maintenance now, doesn’t all have to happen in one day. Easy things first, cross them off the list, and continue down. Search here for help and on Youtube. Knowledge is free, well at the admission price of Internet service.

Also, time is money. Invest it wisely!

that's nuts, my local says 600 for all fluids swapped. cheaper to do it yourself however I'm probably going to have them do the transmission flush.

One more thing, I am not sure if you have tools but you can get yourself all necessary fluids and parts, a nice basic automotive tool set, some beers, 2 boxes of Lean Pockets and still have coin left over.

Yeah hombre, thats a hard pass.....I would just have them do the oil (if you don't want to); I typically have them do it because mines free for now anyways and by the time I buy the oil and get under there its honestly worth the price in convenience for me. I'd also have them change the transfer case oil and tranny fluid and top off all the other fluids. Everything else is ridiculous.

Luckily my soon to be mother in law works in the maintenance dept at our local Toyota dealer here in Augusta so I typically get full priority with their best techs and they know I know trucks and won't take their bs....Mil discount on service combined with her employee discount helps too.

It's all upsell stuff that would be considered gravy work in the automotive field. Read up and do it yourself if you feel confident in your abilities to not screw it up.

couldn't you upgrade your warranty to the 80,000/6 year for less and have all this done under warranty?

Does a Toyota extended warranty cover recommended service? Way cool if it does!

ARB Bumper, SOS sliders, SOS rear bumper, SOS skid plate. OME Lift. Some other stuff.
50% of the stuff they have listed on the quote is bullshit that anyone with zero mechanical skills would be able to complete (Adjust tire pressure, Check Floor mats, etc.). Decide what you can do yourself and have them do the stuff your not willing or comfortable doing.

But really you can do most of it yourself and save some money.

You should type up an invoice to serve them with.

-patiently waiting on SA to greet you
-wait in lobby for tech to look at your vehicle
-watch dumb dealer tv for 45 minutes waiting for SA to bring you a huge list of services needed
-get run around from SA when you question their list
-wait another 20 minutes to get follow up from SA after you question the list
-decline extra services, just get basic and oil change
-wait another 30 minutes for service to be performed
-inspect vehicle for service actually performed
-inspect that oil, filter, bolts, and caps have been returned
-inspect proper placement of floor mat
-inspect door sills and interior plastics for scuffs and scratches
-inspect hood and body for dents, oil and grease smudges

    Time of waiting -$567
    Inspection of all listed above-$98
    Proper documentation fee -$45
    TW research fee -$850
    Pre tax total - $1560
