They are fishing to see if you will bite.

I would tell them change oil and filter. Rotate an balance tires. Nothing else. Unless you have been rough with it.

If you can do all that stuff yourself except tire balance. It will save you some money that day an each time you do it.

I would send that list to Toyota Corporate and ask them if your truck really needs all this work done and point out that you are very disappointed with Toyota, to make a truck that needs this level of mtce....

Love to see their response...!!!:rofl:

Shit bolted onto other shit, and junk.
If you think this is bad, try buying any Toyota on the island. If you don’t like it, go to another dealership, oh yeah it’s an island you can’t. However, it is probably cheaper to ship it to the mainland for service and back. I loved the island, but howleys get no hookup anywhere, just screwed.

Engine filter is only needed if dirty
    Coolant - good till 90K
Battery terminal cleaning is only corrosion is present
    Drivers floor mat - WTF?
Install premium engine oil and fuel system conditioners - maybe this is a fuel service? Ford recomends that at 30K but not needed if you use higher grade gas.
Crackcase oil cleaning service - WTF?
Fuel/Air induction clean up service - maybe part of fuel service
Rear diff - good till 70K
Brake fluid - good til 70K
Mass air flow sensor cleaning - maybe part of fuel service
Auto trans fluid - good till 90K
Front diff - good till 100K if you use 4x4 like every fucking day for 80 percent of your driving, if you dont use 4x4 much then bump that up to 150K
Transfer case - same as front diff, fluid does not heat up(oil breaking down) unless when in 4x4

As a tech at a ford dealer (toyota dealer wasnt hiring) these specs are what we use for fords but they should transfer over to toyota.
At my dealer someone comes in for a oil change/tire rotation package and I look at the mileage then do a quick(27 point) inspection, then check the history before recommending any of the shit on the list they gave you.

I appreciate your enthusiasm, but I’m not too sure about the miles you’ve got on the differential and filters. But, I’m also new at this

All this shit is in your owners manual, but regardless you should not need any fluid flushes till you hit at least 60K, im lowering it cause i dont know toyotas recomended service intervals. 30k service wise is basically still a new car.

i thought you could only charge tax on parts...not service.....this is fu--ed up.....tell them to go fly a kite....look in manual and find out exactly what is done during 30k service...i am sure as it was said earlier, you can do ½ this stuff yourself

$20 they don't even change the fluids in the transfer case and diffs.

"Lowest cost of ownership" except if you go to those scammers shop...unreal.

I can guarantee if you have two Tacoma’s side by side. Same price. Same condition. The one with perfect service records will sell much faster (possibly even more) over the one with no history or owner history (as I in changed my own oil and wrote down the mileage).

    they charge $125 hr for labor don't forget...then parts...if oil is synthetic (6 x 13 =78....filter 15...total= 93....+125 = 218...thats about what I pay for my Lexus GS 3.5) book labor is probably 1.3hrs

That's a really good question. I have always done my own maintenance, until my 3rd gen which was my first vehicle with prepaid (it's not really free) service, through 25K miles. When they offered me extended pre-paid service from 30K to 45K for about $250 more, I decided it was an OK deal, even though that's really just 2 oil changes, 4 tire rotations and floor mat checks. That $250 deal was for a Toyota corporate plan, good at any dealership in the US (maybe not Hawaii or Alaska). So if I get 4 services for $250, meeting the requirements of the factory warranty, that should tell you something about your dealership asking $1500 for just one service. If you don't want to do it yourself, take it to the local gas station.

I'm sure you're right, but add up all the extra money you spent paying the dealership to do the easy maintenance and I guarantee that I'll still be ahead doing it myself even considering resale value.

As easy as it is to change fluids there isn't much reason to pay someone to do it for you unless that's just your preference.

I just had my 30K service done at the dealer. I had already replaced the air filter and cabin filter and had new tires so no rotation needed. They said "OK it sounds like just and oil change then. We do the same inspections anyway." $69

    DIY Fabricobbler.

Dealer service records are just records, not a guarantee of quality workmanship, worked performed, or assumed vehicle longevity going forward.

I have never purchased a used vehicle based only if the vehicle was serviced by a dealer on a regular basis.
I purchase used vehicles based solely on my personal evaluation of conditions inside and out of that vehicle, a test drive and lengthy questioning of the seller.
And in many cases, I have been very successful at negotiating down the asking price just by asking the right questions about services done on a vehicle, whether it be a shop, dealer, or DIY. Many times over the folks selling a vehicle themselves that have been maintained by someone else, leaves them completely at a loss for details when questioned about why something doesn't look right to me. This leaves them wide open for me to doubt they and their vehicle were treated as documented.

Sellers that do their own work properly will be proud of that fact, and the vehicle will reflect this. If the guy has no clue what he is doing and does poor work, the vehicle will reflect this as well.

    Back to your note above....
If a person purchases a vehicle based on it just being clean and having dealership service records, and not having a clue what to look for beyond that on his own, then yes he will probably spend more for this vehicle in a blind manner.

Everyone does their own thing, and feel comfortable with their approach. Your mileage may vary.

After 31 years of buying cars and trucks throughout my driving career (roughly 20 vehicles), I can honestly say I have never had buyers remorse, or purchased a used vehicle that prematurely failed on me because it didn't have dealer service records.

Know what to look for, know what to feel for during the test drive, and know what to ask. Take your time and purchase smartly.

First you should never go to the dealer for routine maintenance. They are always a rip off. But the estimate you present is beyond any rip off I’ve seen in my life. It’s so bad it should be criminal.
Find a reputable garage/repair shop/mechanic and have them do the maintenance.
To give an example of what a rip that is I just got a quote for the 90000 mile maintenance from the shop I have used for years. It includes a basic tune up , new plugs, oil change, new air filter, change the tranny fluid and several other things, not just check this and check that. Also I told them I want the radiator coolant changed too. The cost $450. Oh and one other thing, my place rotates the tires and rebalances them, not just rotation.
Just go to a couple different places and get estimates. Stay far far away from that criminal dealer.
