Man... I always find myself stumbling onto random threads when I'm looking for something else.

I'll be 39 officially in one month from today. Birthday falls on a Friday and I'm going to party like I was 16, which invariably may or may not involve awkward attempts at getting laid and vomit.
The kids will be at their mother's as well. I should probably save up for either the strip club or bail money.

    Howdy fellow Gen Xers!

Happy (Early) Birthday! Sounds a LITTLE like my birthday, except (-) the strip club, (+) a little Drag, (celebrate) no vomit! :D
Might I suggest avoiding getting arrested?

You didn't go to Dantes to get that photo, did you?

I lived in PDX for 4 years before moving down to AZ about 13 years ago.

My "formidable years" were spent in Oregon...

After the extreme disappointment in Nintendo pulling the NES Classic last week, I'm seriously considering tapping into my Wii to make it run as an emulator.
Now, if I only knew what the hell I was doing with messing around with electronics and wiring...:confused::p

What part of Az are you in? I'm in Chandler. I build custom/hacked Wii's for people all the time.

But if you want something clearly for ROM's, a Wii isn't the way to go. It's one of the harder setups to build for a rom box. A raspberry Pi running Retropi or a Nvidia Shield is a much better solution. With the Wii you can play NES games, but as soon as you want to play Sega, SNES, and anything else with more than two buttons you are forced to buy another controller.

Raspberry Pi and a controller is cheaper than a used Wii and a controller.
Nvidia Shield isn't cheap ($200 and up) but it comes with a controller that's the same as an Xbox controller. Plus it has all the other functions it can do.

I figured you had some correlation to Oregon and Arizone with the username. :p

Yes, yes that is most definitely Dante's.

Edit: NO!!! That is Darcelle's. Not Dante's. I'm losing my memory already... o_O

I mean, in downtown PDX it could be anywhere.

Yep, mashup of the two places I've lived the longest, but AZ has a lot of catching up to do since I lived in Oregon for 26 years. Grew up in Newport.

@Aw9d: I've got a Wii that I barely use so that's where my thinking was.
Already heard a few people mention a Raspberry Pi set up but haven't researched it too far.

I wanted to get the NES Classic for the kids, of course.
But they'd have to fight me for time playing shit like Contra and Punch Out. I think I could take 'em...

The Wii Works. It's just a lot more work to setup vs almost every other device.

Heads up dudes: He-Man and She-Ra are on Netflix. I introduced my kid and he's totally into it. Also, the story lines really hold up. He-Man does have some slapstick thrown in, but She-Ra is more serious than He-Man (with a better story arc).

Not sure why people are shitting their pants over the NES and Super NES classics. Did nobody keep their originals? I still have 2 original NES' (one with the box) and an original Super NES with all my games for both.

Do the classics come with a bunch of preloaded games? Because I only have around 6 NES games, and a couple dozen SNES ones.
