My mind cannot comprehend the Year-Round-Shorts Jeans-At-The-Gym hybrid.

Sounds like it was a great move for you.

I was stupid enough to apply for every job when I started looking for jobs because it was a whole lot easier than I expected it to be. I spoke to a lot of young attractive women about possible entry level sales positions. Every single one of them told me, "We work hard play hard," and "We work smarter, not harder." I'm not sure they understood the latter because they would then try to convince me to interview for a job in which you might as well be banging your head against the wall.

I’m not gonna lie. I got lucky and am blessed to have gotten this job.

What makes it even better is I have learned how to lean against a broom without bending the bristles Hahahaha :rofl::rofl::anonymous::notsure::oldglory:

congrats on the new gig. I have considered a gov't job, but fearful of unfunded pension liabilities.

I had that fear while working for the state because my state is the worst. I work for local gov now and the fund has nothing to do with the state thank god. Also, state contributed 4% of my salary to retirement and local does 12%. State paid for my degree though.

We had no state budget for 2 years recently icymi. Shit show.

I work for a city government but our pension is thru the state “public employees retirement system”. The city I work for sends 6% of my wages to the state and in return for 30 years of service I’ll be lucky to get 40% of final salary in retirement. We also have the option of doing deferred comp which is pretty much a 401k....

It's been awhile since you've had a governor thrown in prison. Things may be looking up.

Wow that’s not good. Did you start there after all the pension “reform”?

    6% isn’t bad though. I’m paying 11.5%.

Although I get up to 75% highest wage or 2x years of service as a percent at 60y/o. 2.2 at 62y/o. Ill top out though at 58ish y/o.

I put in 4% of my salary and they put in 12% for local gov.

    State was 4% - 4%

I’m “tier 3”, which is the pension anyone starting to work for any type of government job as of 2005 I believe will get.

Some Tier 1 guys are making 100+% of their average last 5 years...

Tier 2 guys are walking away with about 60-70%

All The calculations are pretty cumbersome but last year some bills went through the legislature that were turned down ultimately that would have taken away 85% of the already low 40% that I’m looking at when I retire in 20+ years

I’m not super complaining but at the same time I wish that I could count on at least 45% being there at the end of my tenure but I doubt it honestly

And you guys don't have the equipment for it out that way. If I lived in the mountains outside of Seattle I'd be down there hiring myself and my truck out to the town to clear side roads for $$$

We’ve gotten 5 feet so far this month. Ran out of places to push it so we called in the big guns last night

Jealous. Everything we've gotten for snow so far this season has been chased by rain. We've had probably 4-5 feet of actual snowfall so far, but there's only about 6 inches of extremely hard-packed ice/snow/crust on the ground.

You guys could always be Missouri..

Last Wednesday, we had ice/snow storm from 8pm to Tuesday afternoon. During the middle of the night, a thunderstorm and a tornado warning made an appearance.

It's been a rainy week now, supposedly more snow this Friday.
