Pointing out how the 285s look on the jeep, only 1" taller than 265 70 17s. The price sheet confirms the tire size in lower left corner.

I think the jeeps look so much beefier. I'd love a rubicon, but im not spending 54k.

the stock wranglers are more than adequate for a lot of people’s uses, and certainly most people who upgrade from them are looking for a “look”, not necessarily because they ran out of traction. There are lots of videos on YouTube of guys getting over under and through shit on the stock Wranglers.

Regardless, I agree with you it would be cool if Toyota offered a truck with gearing for 33”s, factory Kbros, and other jazz.

However, if you don’t think a stock Tacoma is off-road capable, you really gotta get out more. It’s surprising, within the limitations of a pickup truck, how capable they are stock even on the wranglers.

No, this is one of the biggest sizes before rubbing is an issue. But, clearance is close. Actually, I added RekGen mudflaps and the fronts do now rub a bit on sharp turns. Without the flaps I didn't have any rubbing.

Can confirm this is true for me on stock set up; no rubbing.

I’ve heard if you go with a negative offset wheel the 31’s might rub. Anyone know if this is true?

Around $660 for just the tires. $840 out the door with the certificate and mount and balance. They gave me $100 total in rebate which is completed online. They also offer a military/LE discount as well. I went with the 6 months no interest which works out to about $140 a month. Trying to sell my Goodyear Adventure Kevlar tires right now. Offering them for half price and with only $2000 miles. If I can get them sold here shortly I’ll probably survive the passive aggressive onslaught by the wife

I agree with you! I'm on 265/75/16 C load ATs. Although 33's would be great for clearance I haven't been anywhere yet where I felt super limited by 31's. Unless you are doing some serious crawling, you can definitely go have fun and run a lot of trails with 31's!

Also the 33's with methods are a pretty tired look around SoCal...

    Here's my current setup.

Really not sure why more people dont run a 275/70/17 on these trucks. 32.2" X 10.8"

Lifted on OME medium lift, stock UCA, no CMC and mudflaps in place. No rubbing wheeling the truck and its been lifted for 35K miles

I believe it’s the opposite but I could be wrong. The LT’s have larger cords, deeper lugs and more sidewall material

265/75/16's are 31.6" tall, most round up and call them 32" tires. 285/75/16's are 32.8" tall and most round up and call them 33's. In reality you gain .6" of ground clearance and about 3/4 wider tire. Not enough to justify the expense of modifying the the truck to make them fit for me. If I've got to modify the truck I'll go to 35's

Here we are folks, also you’ll notice I have a TRD decal on the rear wheel. Trying to decide wether to run with or without them.

Edit, yes they rub never checked to see what. I’m guessing the mudflap, but they are staying on so I’ll have to get out the heat gun.

    A few.
The 265 number is the width not the height.

Uggh .....yes I know. Please read my first post.

People call 285s “33s” etc and so on. We ALL know that 285 is the width, but it’s a colloquialism here on TW.

My apologies to all tire scientists viewing this thread.
