Out here in AZ on the street in the winter I run 45ish. In the summer I go between 35-40 depending on how hot it is.

Edit: summer I inflate to 35-40 because the heat will expand making it go to 45

PSI "required" will vary with rim width, truck weight, cargo weight, AND tire size. First, you need to establish a good contact patch....No arbitrary inflation number. If you had a 3/4-ton pickup that routinely hauled a couple thousand pounds in the bed, you might want 60 or 70 psi....(or more) A Tacoma that runs around empty most of the time, 30PSI might be enough.

I'm running Duratracs....I've heard tire pressures mentioned from 28 to 60. After a little experimenting, I'm good @ 34psi. Wear is minimal, the entire width of the tire is in contact with the road, the ride is great, gas mileage is as good as a Tacoma will get, and it hauls an average load safely.

Bottom line, these trucks don't need tires blown up to 50 or 60 psi. Tire manufacturers will have a max inflation number for maximum hauling capacity, but that's not a realistic number with a lightweight truck in normal driving conditions....

Run the pressure too low, tires heat up and INCREASE psi. There's a sweet spot somewhere in the middle. (Usually in the 32 to 36 psi range) If driving causes pressure to raise more than 4 or 5 psi, you're starting off too soft....

Many people use chalk testing for psi. Google it or even YouTube it. Tire PSI varies from truck to truck, there's no right answer.
