    Hello All!

New member here and overall new Tacoma owner (my first one) and I was curious about running 33’s on a 2021 Tacoma 4cyl. I was thinking something with a 17” wheel as well…Not sure if it would be too much stress on the engine with the bigger tires/wheels? Also, I drive quite a bit for work so maybe Toyo Open Country A/T 3’s? I understand a leveling kit or small lift kit (2-3”) would be necessary to prevent rubbing and give clearance?

Any and all feedback would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks in advance!!

Only aesthetic mods so far Leer 180 cap & Clazzio covers on order.
    First question - WHY?
The 4 cylinder is notoriously doggy as it is. Bigger tires will require regearing to get you back to the mediocre zip you have with the OEMs.
Save your $$$ for more cosmetic stuff.

It won't be fun but you can do it. Just hope you don't need to get anywhere in a hurry

Ah understood! Well without compromising any torque what is the largest tires you would recommend putting on it?

If you’re committed to 33’s, definitely go the skinny route; 255/80/17 or 255/85/16. The lighter the better.

265/75R16 is the most reliable tire size, its slightly bigger than stock (wider and taller) and gives the aggressive look you want.

The problem with skinnies is that they're all load range E and mostly mud terrains or very aggressive. There are several 285/70R17s that come in lighter than any 33" skinny that I've seen:
    - Toyo OC RT at 49lbs
    - Duratracs at 50lbs
    - Falken Wildpeaks at 50.5lbs

I would recommend 235/85 r 16s. I run the falken wildpeak all terrains and they measure 32" on my 4banger. Taken me a lot of places. Love em

Anything taller than what you have will compromise torque. Keeping them light as possible will help minimize the pain.

The problem with the 285's is rubbing the cab mount/fender wells. The 255's for sure are coming in 10lbs heavier but you don't have to worry about rubbing at all and get the same height advantages

Depends whether you're going for fuel economy or less work to fit I guess. Although someone pointed out the real correct answer for a 4cyl above and it's 265/75R16.

Yeah I'm definitely in the less work to fit club. And I agree, the 265/75 are the right tire to get a little bigger and have no issues at all.

Yeah, I struggled with that too because I wanted a moderately aggressive look. Went with Toyo AT3 265/75/16.

You can get a Yokohama Geolander A/T G015 in 255/75/17, 32" tire, and it weighs in at 41lbs. the 70/17 comes in at 37lbs and is a 31" tire.

Cool. Well as long as it is straight roads 33’s will be dope.
