So on a stock 3rd gen Tacoma where exactly would the tire rub?

On a Tacoma with a 3” lift where would the tire rub?

Can I effectively delete my front bumper and add an off-road bumper in order to achieve 285’s on zero lift? 3” lift?

Did a search... nothing in reference to adding a different bumper came up.. sorry if I missed it :deadhorse:

Assuming you mean 285/70/17 or 285/75/16:

    Cab mount and surrounding plastic

Still cab mount ... unless you go crazy caster with aftermarket UCA ...no guarantees lol

Maybe inner fender plastic and pinch weld cover.

There is no correlation between lift and increased tire clearance.
If tire X rubs stock, it will still rub the same with a "lift"...all be it less often (maybe). Your tire will still compress upward and rub against what ever it was hitting before. Maybe not at ride height anymore, but if you hit a bump, bottom out or flex that tire is still able to make contact with what ever it was rubbing against before. Unless you install longer bump stops, restricting up travel, it will still rub.

Anyways if I was you I would, remove fenders, hood and grill...Sawzall the entire inner fender/ core support off. Replace with full tube engine cage and one piece fiberglass front clip. Pay someone to build 4" over long-travel A arms, ditch that sad stock spindle and hubs and get a custom spindle/hub assembly. Lastly replace the pitiful stock rack steering with a real one and slap some 1" heim joints on the rods ends. Now you can run 37" tires all day.
