Are you sure? Where do you see it interfering?
Wilco Offroad did not advise you to modify the base plate....you chose that option. We advised you to trim the plastic only where the plate would go, as you stated earlier.

The Fabtech set up (in our opinion) places too much strain on too small an area considering the bed is plastic.

When you choose the UBM3030 Bedmount option, drilling into your bed is a factor. We do all we can to accommodate as many types of set ups as possible.

When we talked on Thursday, you stated you were content to pursue the home made base plate mod w the bolt you found at Tractor Supply even though we offered to send you a base plate nut at no charge. Has this changed? Happy to help how we can.

Well why would he have a tonneau cover (for dry storage and security) then put a wide open tailgate on it?

That's what I said. You (Wilco Offroad) wanted me to cut the plastic, but I didn't want to comprise the integrity of my bed. I still believe I made the right choice by modifying the plate.

I'm just giving other Tacoma owners ideas, by the suggestions made to me, and the route I decided to take. I'm still very happy with the product. It just sucks it was not a quick and easy install, but that's how life goes sometimes.

Yes, the customer service has been great at Wilco thanks to Erick's dedication.

Exactly. And the bed is small enough already, without intruding further with a tire.

Not to say the tire gate aren't nice, and a good solution for some requirements.

I'm not installing the wide open tiregate. This mounts flat inside the bed and still gives me 60% of my bed (long bed).

Yes, we're aware. The tailgate one was mentioned earlier, and someone said they couldn't use that since they have a tonneau cover. Read back through and you'll see there's two different conversations going on.

Did you experience any problems with the tire over time? Like it rubbing while off-roading or because of the exhaust it heating up?

I never had issues with a 285/70/17 in the stock spot. It rubbed the paint off my diff in a small spot, but the tire always looks fine.
