Logical question if you care about real world stuff.

    Bzzzzt. Incorrect answer.

Critical factor for sure. Hot for the 'gram when parked.

Until you know what 'cycle the suspension' means, please stop.

    Hot take:

All you “you have to lift it or you will destroy your truck the first time you REALLY go off-road” guys are missing a critical step. Yes, the lift gets the tires further from the body. Many lifts do nothing to address the upper limits of suspension travel, ie bump stops/cutting for clearance. If you REALLY off-roaded with those, it’s going to rub just as hard as stock will. If you do the CMC (which after dealing with all the frame rust issues, like hell I’m going to void my frame rust warranty to fit tires), pinch welds, control arms, and whatever else you had to do to fit tires with your lift, you could have cleared them stock.

I'm sure they fit and don't rub, but that is only when you are sitting still. There is no way that you are driving that and not screaming of rubbing plastic every time you turn the wheel. Lets see a picture of you turned full lock.

What I will never understand is why people lie. I would feel like the biggest Richard in the world posting something like this knowing someone may believe this BS and cost someone a small fortune because they thought it might work. Karma is a bitch my friend and undoubtedly she will slap the hell out of you for this.

Maybe people are missing the key point on the wheel specs. The narrower the wheel and the more tucked inward it is, the less it will rub. Those wheels have the perfect specs because it has 4.15" backspacing to keep it off of the control arms but it's only 7" wide so it remains nice and tucked in. For what it's worth OP, I believe you that it doesn't rub while driving on the street. And if it rubs while offroad, big whoop. Just trim a bit more. People are acting like you said you're going to punch a puppy and not that your tires don't rub.

I'm specifically talking about the frame. I'm not convinced Toyota has this frame thing sorted out yet (the 17's are getting covered). If your truck has been salvaged, sorry...no frame coverage. If you cut and welded on your frame...I can't see any situation where they'd cover it.

Are you talking about the frame recall for vehicles that are almost 10-20 years old?

There is currently a thing for selected 2016 and 2017 frames.

Oh hmm I think I read about a process where they spray the truck frame.

Nope, I’m talking about the frame recall for vehicles that are now 4 years old and keeps getting extended. I love that Toyota takes care of their customers, but if you modify by welding, you’ve messed with the metallurgy of the frame and Toyota is going to politely tell you to take a walk.

I’m talking about the risk you take doing the CMC is removing your eligibility for frame replacement down the road. If you are cool with that risk, then chop away. I don’t think some are considering that aspect.

Edit: and I’m not saying that they will need frame replacement, maybe Toyota did finally get their shit together, but I’m not sure enough yet.

They don't consider the safety aspect either. 90% only care how it looks and that's OK. People spend billions on hair growth and makeup so apparently looks are a thing.

I just try to make sure I don't have food stuck to my shirt and there is no dirt on my face...

If you caught a rock and trying to make a turn that can do some damage...I think. These are midsized trucks not meant to have a mini-monster stance without heavy mods.

I've known numerous people with cmc, sliders welded on, rear shocks relocated, etc. with no issues of frame recall. Take that for what it's worth.

Although it is hard to say what Toyo would do, if you can show that the affected area is no where near the weld cut area which is actually an attachment to the frame, not part of the frame, you should be ok.

That’s awesome to hear, I’ve read of guys getting hassled for sliders. Good to hear first hand that some dealers are being cool.

I like to put wheels that are going to be 2 sizes bigger than I am going to run. And then I put them on stock suspension, let the wheels grind out and trim for me.. then I get a body lift, and put my new wheels on! Saves so much money! The truck makes all kinds of weird sounds, but I get like 25 likes per post on Instagram.

I installed wheels and tires 2 weeks ago and I'm getting my lift installed next week. Only decided on the lift because the rake was so noticeable with 32s. going with 1.5 inches in the front using fox 2.0 performance shocks / coilovers

I was never actually intending on lifting the truck lol
