I have a 2015 Tacoma Prerunner with the 2.7l. I put new wheels with 265/70/17 wildpeak. Was thinking of moving up to like a 285/70/17. I wanted to know if a regear is necessary, considering i just got off the phone with the dealer and they told me i have a 4.10 gear ratio. Have you guys ever been in a similar situation? Any feedback is helpful!

A few additions to make me feel cool.
I mean you are not gonna be winning any races but it has been done without a re-gear. Much more than with.

Auto or manual? I have 285's on my rc and it's manageable with the stock 4.10's + manual. Auto I would be looking to regear.

You'll be fine. I ran 36's with the stock 4.10 gears. 0-70 mph was ~ 10 seconds up a 7% grade. I also towed boats with the same setup. It wasn't optimum but it worked well.

Personally, I would regear to 4.88's to offset the lack of power of the 4cyl with 33's. Start adding armor or increase hauling then I think it would be a requirement. Not much of an issue with the 4.0.
