    It’s been 3 weeks since I got the balanced. Took a solid 3 days to fit the passenger side, and I’m expecting the drivers side to be slightly worse

    I was ahead of these guys by a couple vehicles, so I could take pics of the group. 33’s with a 2” inch lift worked just fine on these obstacles. This trail is rated difficult as well.

    Id argue that the 33s on a jeep that has more articulation because of a a SAS front is not in the same game as an ifs tacoma. If you put an IFS tacoma out there, and compared 33s and 35s, 35s are just that much easier to wheel.

    Was not the point. Ignore the Jeeps, I was saying my Tacoma with 33’s did this difficult rated trail just fine. Tacoma New .jpg

    They are on order. It still will not exceed the payload limit with the skids. I don’t pull or put anything heavy in the bed.

    I wasnt asking about payload.

    It's not really something I care about.

    I was asking more so to understand how hard the trail was. If you felt safe going up there without skids, and its dry, that means you most likely had excellent grip with your tires (read as, I dont think it's that difficult)

    Everyone wheels different places. I want to wheel in places where 35s and skids are required. On the east coast the value of 35s are immediately noticeable.

    Edit: I've seen photos of members here with 35s that dont make obstacles and 37s do. Those are usually out west. Tire size really does matter on obstacles.

    Oh gotcha, I was hoping to get the skids on by the time we did this trail (China Wall) but they didn’t come in. I did hit the rock sliders a couple of time and agree that 35’s and a build that supports them would make it easier but not so much so it’s worth it to me. I don’t desire to do much harder trails.......at least until after I make my first payment..lol!!

    The Nittos do very well too. The places out here in Colorado that require 37’s also have winch points permanently imbedded in the rocks and most have to use them!!

    Nitto ridge grapplers c range 285/70/17s.

    Wheels are 17" KMC Holeshot XD129s. Tires are a little heavy, I think 57 pounds and the wheels are 28 pounds. I just take it easy and coast going down hill.

    Damn! I only get this good of MPGs when I'm on a slower speed highway doing like 50-55 mph and in 6th gear, which is most of the drive going to Rainier and back. On the freeway, I get around 17-18mpgs. I used to have a corolla that I hypermiled for fun, and managed to go from 36mpg average to 48mpgs by just driving technique, so I guess that kind of carried over.

    It’s always a fun accomplishment to drive up an obstacle with anchors there. Makes all the cutting and hammering worth it haha

    Don’t forget 35s will beat the shit out of your suspension, wear out wheel bearings quicker, and cost more to replace. If money isn’t an issue go for it.

    33s will get you through 90-95% of obstacles. Realistically if you needed 35s you wouldn’t be asking.

    A few OE parts from fancy trucks
    I would figure out my true functional need, and go to that.

    Looks are important of course, but secondary to function for me. Especially on big ticket items like you are considering.

    Another consideration is how long you'll keep the truck. The heavier the mods, the less potential buyers you'll have.
