Here is my Taco as it sits. Have not done much really, love the truck and have a million projects.

I am near the end of the stock tires, you cant see it in the picture but at least one of the wheels has some rock rash, as does the tube step and skid plate. And one ding in the tailgate. Over all have beeb rather careful not to damage it, but have used it like a truck since day 1. 20170219_164909.jpg

Their BFG KO2's not many choices in 295's, I had to do the CMC but nothing else special to make them fit.

295/70r17, just installed a couple days ago. I wanted to go 35’s, but after getting these on I don’t really plan on it anymore. I’m happy with them. Tires are Nitto Ridge grapplers if you were wondering.

    Nice double spare!

I had those wheels on my last Taco, one of my favorite TRD wheels.

I like the skinnies better with the spacers, for looks but they scare me a little in the back for load bearing and towing. So many horror stories. That said the only spacers I have run were on my 85 4runnrt before I rolled it, and my wifes 2006 4runner to clear the tires on the control arms. No issues with either.

Have you had any issues? Or how do you like the skinnies vs a wider tire, I have run some offroad but never on the street.

Aside from mods I will eventually do. The only way I would like my base truck more, is if it was an Access cab. Nice truck!

    Thx Landry !

I love the black trail teams, my favorite stock wheel by far. Ive had no issues with the wheel spacers, spidertrax 1.25". I dont tow, so I can comment on that. With spacers comes increases scrub radius, so I have to do more clearancing than most. I never have run a wider tire. I like the tall skinnies. they work for me. These run good down the road, and are wearing well.

Those look like a good comprimize size, I wonder why they are not more common.

Maybe just because of limited availability?

My wifes 4runner had (I believe the same) size Nitto Terra grappler's. They wore well and looked nice but were horrible in the dirt, her 2017 now has the stock-ish size with terrag grappler g2 which I thibk are better than I remember but she says she hates them.

How are the Ridge grapplers? They look more aggressive than the terra which would be good.

This is the best pic i have of hers, I believe we were camping. Which would explain the chaulk block (bed tent)20170227_151411.jpg

    Some of the things...
Sounds like your a good candidate for 285/75/17s (34's). My 15' is s/c'd and I've got the 6 speed as well. I can tell you that going from 75lbs per wheel and tire to almost 100lbs made a SIGNIFICANT difference. My truck is a little more sluggish than the norm due to the heavy urd flywheel but I can tell you right now without gears its doggy and I get 12mpg at best. I'm planning to go 4.30s this year and 35's in the future fyi.. Heres the 285/75/17s with 2.25" cut out of the fenders. You can get away with cutting fenders as long as you have a healthy cmc, spc uppers (I dont have these and my alignment guy sucks so I cut), and small spacers on your bumps (wheelers with their 1/4 shim is working well for me).

    Looks great!

I am also running the 42? Lb heavy flywheel from URD. I have the stage 2 clutch now, as the 3 was too agressive for towing happily.

Your mileage is like mine. Terrible. Lol

I don't remember what size these were, i think they were 295/70r17 or something. I ran them on my old Tacoma for awhile. It was also 6spd, and I did not like the 3.73 with larger tires so I definately plan to re-gearFB_IMG_1522066943079.jpg

And as you can see the 265/75r16's rubbed at full stuff on that truck lol.

They were retreads, and nearly an inch taller than normal 265/75. I want to say they were about 32.5 but I don't remember for sure.

Other than plosing the mudflaps, the platice tab in the front and using a box cutter on the plastic there was nothing needed to fix the rubbing.

Only had them out once on a deer lease so far, but I had no complaints. Time will tell. I wanted falken wildpeaks or Cooper STT pro’s, but I had a deal on the Nitto’s I couldn’t pass up.

4.56 is pretty deep for 35's. I have 4.56's and they are perfect now with 37's. In fact I'm still slightly lower than stock. With 35's, the truck would be screaming in 6th gear on the freeway. Close to 3000 rpms at cruising speed. Iirc, about 2400 rpms at about 55 mph.

Good point, it is is already around 3k at 85 stock. I have 4.30's on the shelf, just not in an e-locker. I could pull my locker and run 4.30's to see before I decide. Have 4.10s as well, so could try a few options once I fit the tires in 2wd and decide that way.

4.88 and 5.29 too but I think they are just too deep for a supercharged 4.0. Been running 4.88 with 31s on my 85 since I broke the last set of 4.30's, but extra power in a 22re is good lol

I had on 2005 6spd on 35's. I thought it was great, wouldn't hesitate to go 35's again with a manual. I'm a little more iffy with the already mushy auto trans.
