I’m on 265/75r16 right now with 3 1/2 RC lift, tires look too small. Will 33s rub bad and would I need to get a cmc?

Because the tire is too wide or tall? I’ve seen some people do it and they have no rubbing and then others say it rubs like crazy

I have the same lift. Was told the 285/70/17 Grapplers on -12 offset wouldn’t rub. Any reversing, or large bump rubbed. CMC and pinch weld done, all is good.

The same shit everyone else has.
Depends on alignment, wheel width, and offset.

I’ve looked at 275/70r18 but everything gets crazy expensive, and definitely don’t want to get a cmc. I’ll just have to deal with the rub I guess

Or just deal with the small looking tires until you want to get a cmc

I did not… the truck had 500 miles on it. I will do it at some point, but now I’m just trying to build it up by priority.

Go with 255/85/16, 255/80/17, or 33/10.5/17 and you won’t rub.

    Yes.

Doesn’t matter if you lift it zero inches or three. It will rub. If you add spacers, it’ll rub worse. CMC is not that scary, just get it over with.

Also for actual Offroad use and performance, 255/85/16 is ideal in my experience. Unless you are gonna go 35+ then that’s a whole new discussion.

If it’s for looks, then you will be ok with the rubbing. Its not that bad. It’s just a noise.

This. I swapped to 255/80r17s on 17x7 4Runner wheels, with just 2 or 2.5 inches of lift from my 5100s with OME coils. 6 months, no rubbing anywhere. Night and day improvement over the wide wheels and tires I was on previously, and I don't miss the wide look as much as I thought I would.

I would love some pics. I think that’s the exact setup I want to do. Very small lift and that same size tire.

And less rolling resistance/weight than a 285/70/17. Well and in some situations skinny tires work better off-road.

I just picked up some TRD off-road 4Runner wheels a few weeks ago, will be fitting them with 255/80/17 Wildleaks at the same time as I install the TRD OR Bilsteins I snagged last year. Should be a drastic improvement in both looks and ride quality, considering I believe it has a set of parts store quick struts on it now.
