    Disclaimer:

I do ZERO off-roading. I’m a mall crawler. Nothing against 4x4, I just don’t use it in SoCal.
( photo of my truck down below )

Facts: I’m on a 4 inch Maxtrac lift with Bilsteins all around. I currently am riding with 295/70/17 Nitto Ridge Grapplers. Everyone said I’d rub and it wasn’t possible.

    I don’t.
    98% of the time.

The smallest trimming was required in front left fender to not rub in reverse turning the wheel right at full turn.

I want to make the leap to 305/70/17.
I’ve called my shop. They said with some heavy heavy BMC, we can do it. BUT they can’t promise I won’t rub. Which is fine. I completely understand.

my question is... does anyone have experience with this 2WD setup ? Do you rub ? Is this possible ? Just using the truck for daily driving and nothing more.

Lots of guys run 35’s with 3” lift on second gens. Cab mount chop, beat your pinch weld flat, trim fenders, and use BFH on anything your tires touch. Anything is possible if you use enough hammer.

Go checkout the Maxtrac spindle thread. Should be a bunch of guys on 35’s in there

If you’re not afraid of the cutting involved, go for it. I go back and forth every day about doing 35s, but I’m on a 2” lift.

35's is the single biggest regret I have on my truck. It's just not worth it imho. I'll likely go back down in size eventually.

I'm on 35's with 3" lift CMC, pinch weld and 4.3+ caster If you go with the right size rim with the correct back spacing and offset your good to go . AOHD8378.jpg

BTW the tire size your asking about converts to a 34" tire not 35"

They're really not necessary for my style of traveling. So they just don't suit me personally. Most obstacles I've come across a set of 285's would be able to handle. They're way heavier and the truck feels it for sure. Mpg went down to 11 and the truck was a dog before gears. Even after gears it's still a pig. Fitting them is a nightmare. The trucks just not anywhere near ready for them and you have to beat the crap out of it to fit.

You could have just said "I do rub" or " they were right".

Go to the 2nd Gen forum and see how many members are replacing their steering racks with 35” tires.
