I’m running 35’s, flashed the 2nd Gen 4.0 NA OVTune and am re-gearing to 4.56 later this month.

Does anyone else have experience with this set up? I’m wondering how the re-gear will affect my OVTune.

    Thanks.

A regear alone will make the truck feel like a brand new truck

Yeah, just hoping it pairs well with the tune I already paid for and flashed...it should, just looking for first hand experience.

The tune alone has helped drivability a lot already.

    The OVTUNE remaps the ECU.

Tunes throttle map, timing, shift points, acceleration curve etc...

You end up re-gearing yet? Wondering how the 4.56s feel and where your RPMs are at highway speeds.

I have an OVTune and 4.56's with an automatic transmission. I'm running 32's (31.6 actually). I like it a lot, but it didn't turn it into a racecar or anything. It won't adversely affect the tune. If you're running an automatic, then you know it firmed up the shifts somewhat. The gears make it feel even more firm, due to additional mechanical advantage.

I have 315's, OV tune and 4.56 and wish I had 4.88 (AT as well). It was still pretty good but wish it was better. I had 285's, OV and 4.56 and it was a perfect marriage. The truck is dramatically heavier than before. if your not too heavy it is going be a big upgrade but when going from 285 to 315 which is pretty much a heavy 35 tire it was noticeable.

4.56 is pretty good. 4.88 would be perfect in my opinion if your running an AT.

For reference my truck has BAMF full skids, sliders, steel front and back dual swing out with big ass tire, shell and other stuff so lots of steel not helping much but even then 4.56 was great with the 285's.

How is it on the highway with 4.88’s and 35’s? I’ve been leaning towards 4.56’s when I get 35’s because I do a lot of highway driving

Yes I did! I’m really liking how the truck drives now.

    At 65 MPH I’m at 2150 RPM’s.

Between the regear, OVTune and Pedal Commander, I feel I have the truck dialed in.

you will be fine. I ran that tune for awhile, did wheeling trips you name it with 285 and 315's no issues.

I have 4.56 so highway has been fine. mid 2ks at 75-80. 35's would prob put it at 2800/2900. Going 4.56 is still a big improvement. I would say most of the time its fine. Hills/Steep shit I start to feel it again where it was not noticeable anymore when I had 285's and 4.56.

I am in no rush to replace since its already regeared and locked in the front. It would be a big project to re do it again. That money will go other big things.

Currently installing a Maggie S/C so that with the 4.56 will prob be perfect.

I usually cruise around 65-70 so I might go with 4.56 to keep my rpm’s down for gas mileage

Sweet!! I do a lot of highway driving so I think the 4.56s will be perfect when I get 315s
Thanks for getting back so quickly.

yah 4.56 is not bad at all. You will prob sit at 2500-2600 RPM when cruising at 70-75 maybe lower.

Main note was I would have went 4.88 if I realized I would switch up as quick as I did.

Either is great honestly one just has more pep. MPG you will be jacked either way with 315's.
