If it was me I would choose the S&W

By the way Taurus bought the rights to Rossi in 1997

    Just getting started.
I've had revolvers from all three manufacturers. I liked them all...not much of a difference between the three. It really depends on what type of revolver you want. My favorite was a taurus titanium 44 special. S& W makes some nice low profile, ultra lite revolvers. If you just want an inexpensive gun to throw lead a rossi will do just fine. You really can't go wrong with a revolver unless you buy a old used one that has been beat to shit.

I have a Taurus 44 mag Raging Bull, S&W .38, S&W .500 mag and I once had a Colt Anaconda. As far as quality the Anaconda was the best with Smith's a close (basically a tie) second.

I love my Taurus Raging Bull but the fit and finish is not as good as Smith's in my expeirence with them. The Taurus shoots perfectly fine and is accurate as hell but when you look at every little detail you can see where they saved some money by cutting corners.

A Smith will retain it's value way more than a Taurus, if that matters.

Get what feels good in your hand when you shoot. Go to the range and rent each one so you can try them out.
