That right there should be a signal to not do any more business with them unless you have nowhere else to go.

The writing is on the wall. Tomorrow I wil be contacting another Dealership. Part of the whole process is the convience of not needing to go to two shops and spend time twice to have the work done. I wil pay more for that convience. However not $200 more.

One thing I've learned over the years: a dealer or large repair shop cannot be trusted to do multiple jobs in one session. They will always forget something. Unless there's a big labor saving (the proverbial timing belt and water pump), go to separate shops or at least make separate appointments.

Excellent advice. I will probaby end up going that route. I always try to be as greedy with my time as I can. I will most likely let them do the TSB and have my usual shop do the shocks

I did mine in front of my apartment ;) Never done it before but there were some great write-ups on this site that helped walk me through it. I did piss off my neighbors a lil bit using my impact gun on the spring compressor that I rented from Autozone... noisy :) You will still need to have your front end aligned which is the only bummer. I thought that when Toyota did the TSB on the rears they had to perform an alignment the front end anyways? (they did on mine). Might save you a few bucks if you install the billy's first and then have the TSB on the rear done.

If they're doing the TSB the alignment should be on them as that is part of the TSB anyway. At any rate they are still way over priced. I had a local mechanic do mine both front and rear and he charged me $110. I than drove my truck from his shop to the dealer for them to do the alignment, which was $60 for a four wheel alignment. So in total I was in $170.
I did the four wheel alignment only because it cost the same to do all four corners as just the front. I did stop at a Firestone by the house and they quoted me $395 without the alignment. After choking I said no thanks.

I've hired 4 lawyers in my lifetime...none of which charged anything near $109/hour!

Lawyers aren't dealer service departments. $109/hr is actually a little lower than the average rate around here. Alot depends on geography.

Oh, I know that is about right (unfortunately). Regardless, it always startles the hell out of me when I think of it.

A lot of people bash the dealer for what they charge, and you all seem to be able to do it your self. But, how many of you have a 100k alignment rack, a building or the proper tools to do the work? I'm sure I have more tools than most of you (about 15k) and I buy more all the time. The truth is just because you can figure it it doesn't make you a mechanic and your post count is not a reflection of your automotive intelligence.

Dealership won't budge on their price. I am letting them do the TSB and that will be the last time I am there. (I am only letting them do that much because they already ordered the parts.) My usual shop is doing the work for $120, 4 wheel alignment included. Thanks to those of you who offered to do the work for/with me. If I wasn't a chef and working like nuts right now I would take advantage of your more than generous offers. Hopefully I will have a chance to get together with you guys in the near future.
