Yeah they've been great! Surprisingly. Figured they'd suck like the old Rugged Fails that came on my 1st gen.

Rugged Fails were Horrible, some of the worst tires I have ever had.

You can tag me because you aren't starting shit. The mods are just fed up with people tagging or referring to me in an antagonistic manner.

As much as folks put down dealerships service departments and their mechanics, I am surprised to read some one is upset that someone is taking care of their stuff. Also its because of the free air and "shitty" Dunlops he can afford to whip out his $40 digital tire gauge.

Welcome to the forum OP, and I wanna read all about your problems, well, Tacoma problems that is.
But it wasn’t that long ago shocks lasted 25k miles or less and now I’ve routinely come expect to put well over a 100k hwy miles on them. My last T4R had almost 200k on them and were still safe and solid amazing!

I have over 20k on my taco shocks now, and they’re still ride quite like new and this include off-roading 2-3X times a month.
But there are many others with way many more on them with no issues reported and if mine would go out (Hitachi) I’d probably replace them with same as I like the overall comfort ride with my current tire combination.
    Just lucky I guess??

As for the P/S issue, I’ve never had to replace any on Toyota’s I’ve had.
They’ve all been quite as a mouse and leak free, wish I could say the same for so many of the other make/models out there and I’ve seen a lot of those.
But I would expect that there must/have to be some failure(s) out there though.

If it was me that had the shocks failed I’d get some 5100’s as others have mentioned that are more HD and the P/S shouldn’t be that hard or expensive to replace at a local independent shop, if out of warranty, case closed.
You still should have 60k left on power drive train warranty, or more if you bough the extended warranty.

    Good luck
    Cheers!

thanks for the positive out look the hammer, but this turd is going down the road. if the transmission was not so bad i might have kept it,but there is to many things wrong with these 3rd gens. for me. so after a lot of pillow wrestling last night, what i am going to do is go into the dealership tell them my truck is the best but i need more room, dump it at any cost and get me a 4 runner trd off road premium package in red and let some other sucker deal with it.

Do you have a salesman you use regularly? If you show up and there is a red TRD 4 runner sitting out front, he may be a Tacoma World member. :D

OP complains about issues with a 2016, yet has bought a 2017 despite said issues. Sounds like a real wise fellow.

Oh No! Not a cold concrete floor! It's not about are the shocks leaking or not, it's about either tackling some stuff yourself
I'm still thinking my 2015 is "new".. up to 15 it was Dunlop AT2, that's what came on mine, they rode like minivan tires..

Guys, just because somebody has a failure does NOT mean that there is a mass issue. The transmission "issues" are all different views on the way it should shift or not shift. I don't think I have seen a post yet with an actual transmission failure. I totally get posting for suggestions BUT I always cringe when somebody replies with "Great another problem with the 3rd Gen". No, the OP has a problem that some may have also experienced. It does not mean you should all run to your dealer asking about the "Known" issues because despite what you think, TW is not Toyota's source of truth. I have had the best experience so far with my 3rd Gen and I think a lot of you bought your trucks without truly test driving them. /rant

People have been saying that for years and years, yet the new toyotas since have kept running and running. I don't think I'd go that far yet.
