Alright I got bored and mocked one up after work. I used a USB to USB C adapter I had laying around, and there was already orange filament in the printer so I just painted it black with spray paint.

I've ordered black filament and a few USB to USB 6" cords.

Things I need to work on yet:

    1. The face isn't very smooth. I'll try a higher print quality, or possibly printing in a different orientation.
    2. The cords I ordered will be tricky to fit into the adapter. It's hard to explain, but the female end of a USB extension has four "lips" which may need to be bent flat to slide it into the adapter I made, then bent back into place.

Also, I'm wondering if the design I've posted with a one piece adapter would make more sense than using a 6" pigtail. If anyone has an opinion, let me know if you prefer one over the other.

I'll keep y'all updated, here are some pics of the v1 model.

Are you designing this for 2nd gen or 1st gen? This is a 1st gen thread after all...

Well if anyone wants to help me design one for the first gen, I'd be happy to try!

Yeah, I'm planning on regular usb. The first one was just a mock-up and I had the type c sitting around.

I have these available for purchase. I will put them up a thread in the BST section.

    BST Sale Thread link

I made my own revision of the OP’s design to make it stronger and more 3D printer friendly.

These will be made from Nylon/Carbonfiber.
    Finish will be black.
Printed in high resolution with a smooth surface finish.

If you look at the OP's original post you will see it installed. It's the exact same dimensions.
    Thanks.
